Since its inception in the famous 1936 paper by Birkhoff and von Neumann entitled "The logic of quantum mechanics quantum logic, i.e. the logical investigation of quantum mechanics, has undergone an enormous development. Various schools of thought and approaches have emerged and there are a variety of technical results.Quantum logic is a heterogeneous field of research ranging from investigations which may be termed logical in the traditional sense to studies focusing on structures which are on the border between algebra and logic. Daniel, Lehrer in Baden-Württemberg und Julius, Historiker in Berlin, verbindet eine gescheiterte Liebesbeziehung. Vor dem Hintergrund der Corona-Krise treffen Sie erneut aufeinander, und stellen im Laufe des Romans fest, dass auch die Geschichten ihrer Familien weitaus enger miteinander verknüpft sind, als sie ahnten. Ost-Biographie trifft auf West-Biographie im 30 Jahre wiedervereinten Deutschland.Vor dem Hintergrund der Corona-Krise entwickeln sich um die beiden Protagonisten Daniel und Julius verschiedene Erzählstränge. Der etwas über 40jährige Daniel wünscht sich einen festen Partner und möchte ein Kind aus Bulgarien adoptieren. Sein Ex Julius steht vor den Scherben seiner prekären Existenz: keine Beziehung, Wohnung wegen Eigenbedarf gekündigt, das Einkommen bricht weg.Daniel unternimmt mit seinen Schülern eine Klassenfahrt in die alte Heimat Berlin. Beim Besuch des ehemaligen Stasi-Gefängnisses Hohenschönhausen sorgt er für ein Wiedersehen mit Julius. Dieser arbeitet hier, wo seine Großeltern und sein Vater einst inhaftiert waren. Seine sicher geglaubte Teilzeit-Anstellung scheitert in letzter Sekunde aufgrund der Ungewissheit der Corona-Krise. Er wird nicht nur diesen Job verlieren, auch seine Tätigkeit als Deutschlehrer eines Integrationskurses für Flüchtlinge wird ausgesetzt.In der Ausnahmesituation der Krise treffen Daniel und Julius in Rügen erneut aufeinander:Daniel muss sich um seinen Vater kümmern, dessen polnische Pflegerin nicht mehr einreisen kann. Julius nutzt den Shutdown sich endlich mit dem Haus seines verstorbenen Vaters auseinanderzusetzen. Aus Stasi-Unterlagen weiß er, dass seine Eltern mit ihrem Segelboot Fluchthelfer in den Westen waren. Bei einem Fluchtversuch kam seine Mutter ums Leben. Während des Aufenthaltes auf der Insel kommt die Wahrheit über die schicksalshafte Flucht ans Licht.Eingewoben und mit der Hauptgeschichte verbunden sind zwei weitere Fluchtschicksale: Die Geschichte eines jüdischen Mannes, der 1938 auf der St. Louis über den Atlantik flüchtet, und die Flucht einer syrischen Frau über das Schwarze Meer nach Bulgarien.
