Theatre and Dictatorship in the Luso-Hispanic World explores the discourses that have linked theatrical performance and prevailing dictatorial regimes across Spain, Portugal and their former colonies. Juan Mayorga. Hacia una filosofía del teatro estudia la raíz ética y estética del teatro del dramaturgo madrileño y de las posibilidades que su obra ofrece en relación con la recepción del espectador contemporáneo. Partiendo de la pregunta que Jacques Rancière plantea en El espectador emancipado, en el que se cuestiona la existencia de un teatro que dote de herramientas para la emancipación al espectador, la autora hace un recorrido por los distintos creadores y filósofos que nutren la obra de Mayorga, prestando especial atención a la influencia que la filosofía de Walter Benjamin tiene en el teatro de la memoria de Mayorga.
