Das 2017 erschienene Buch von Hubert Knoblauch »Die kommunikative Konstruktion der Wirklichkeit« enthält den Entwurf einer eigenen, über den bisherigen sozialen Konstruktivismus hinausgehenden soziologischen Theorie. Der vorliegende Band erhebt den Anspruch einer systematischen Auseinandersetzung mit diesem Opus ausdrücklich nicht. Gleichwohl ist »Die kommunikative Konstruktion der Wirklichkeit« archimedischer Bezugspunkt einer sehr viel breiter greifenden Beschäftigung mit dem Autor und seinem bisherigen soziologischen Schaffen. 2019 wird Hubert Knoblauch 60 Jahre alt. Aus diesem Anlass als Kollektivprodukt geschaffen, enthält der Band rund 100 Beiträge von Kolleginnen, Weggenossen, Freunden und Schülerinnen, die Knoblauchs Werk und Person aus einer Vielzahl verschiedener Perspektivierungen beleuchten. Formal am Aufbauprinzip einer quasilexikalischen Gestalt orientiert, entfaltet sich ein Kaleidoskop höchst diverser und ihrem Gehalt wie ihrer Form nach sehr unterschiedlicher Bezugnahmen auf den hier geehrten Soziologen.
