This book constitutes the proceedings of the Joint IAPR International Workshop on Structural, Syntactic, and Statistical Pattern Recognition, S+SSPR 2018, held in Beijing, China, in August 2018.The 49 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: classification and clustering; deep learning and neurla networks; dissimilarity representations and Gaussian processes; semi and fully supervised learning methods; spatio-temporal pattern recognition and shape analysis; structural matching; multimedia analysis and understanding; and graph-theoretic methods.

The AMDO 2002 workshop took place at the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) on 21-23 November, 2002, sponsored by the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), AERFAI (Spanish Association for Pattern Rec- nition and Image Analysis), the CICYT (Comision Interministerial de Ciencia y Tecnologia, Spanish Government), the European Commission (Human Potential Programme: High Level Scienti?c Conferences), and the Mathematics and C- puter Science Department of the UIB. In addition, Egse (Eurographics Spanish Chapter)helpedwithdisseminationandpromotion. Thesubjectoftheworkshop wasongoingresearchinarticulatedmotiononasequenceofimagesandsophis- cated models for deformable objects. The goals of these areas are to understand and interpret the motion of complex objects that can be found in sequences of images in the real world. These topics (geometric and physically deformable models, motion analysis, articulated models and animation, visualization of - formable models, 3D recovery from motion, single or multiple human motion analysis and synthesis, applications of deformable models and motion analysis, face tracking, recovering and recognition models, etc.) are actually very int- esting ways of organizing important research to solve more general problems. Another objective of this workshop was to relate ?elds using computer graphics, computer animation, or applications in several disciplines combining synthetic andanalyticalimages. Inthisregarditisofparticularinteresttoencouragelinks betweenresearchersinareasofcomputervisionandcomputergraphicswhohave common problems and frequently use similar techniques. Theworkshopincluded?vesessionsofpresentedpapersandtwotutorials. - vited talks treating various aspects of the topics were: Haptic-based Deformable Solid of Arbitrary Topology, by Prof. H. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Workshop on Energy Minimization Methods in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, EMMCVPR'97, held in Venice, Italy, in May 1997.The book presents 29 revised full papers selected from a total of 62 submissions. Also included are four full invited papers and a keynote paper by leading researchers. The volume is organized in sections on contours and deformable models, Markov random fields, deterministic methods, object recognition, evolutionary search, structural models, and applications. The volume is the first comprehensive documentation of the application of energy minimization techniques in the areas of compiler vision and pattern recognition.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 13th IMA International Conference on the Mathematics of Surfaces held in York, UK in September 2009. The papers in the present volume include seven invited papers, as well as 16 submitted papers. The topics covered include subdivision schemes and their continuity, polar patchworks, compressive algorithms for PDEs, surface invariant functions, swept volume parameterization, Willmore flow, computational conformal geometry, heat kernel embeddings, and self-organizing maps on manifolds, mesh and manifold construction, editing, flattening, morphing and interrogation, dissection of planar shapes, symmetry processing, morphable models, computation of isophotes, point membership classification and vertex blends. Surface types considered encompass polygon meshes as well as parametric and implicit surfaces.

This volume in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series contains the papers presented at the S+SSPR 2010 Workshops, which was the seventh occasion that SPR and SSPR workshops have been held jointly. S+SSPR 2010 was organized by TC1 and TC2, Technical Committees of the International Association for Pattern Recognition(IAPR), andheld inCesme, Izmir, whichis a seaside resort on the Aegean coast of Turkey. The conference took place during August 18–20, 2010, only a few days before the 20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR) which was held in Istanbul. The aim of the series of workshops is to create an international forum for the presentation of the latest results and exchange of ideas between researchers in the ?elds of statistical and structural pattern recognition. SPR 2010 and SSPR 2010 received a total of 99 paper submissions from many di?erent countries around the world, giving it a truly international perspective, as has been the case for previous S+SSPR workshops. This volume contains 70 accepted papers, 39 for oral and 31 for poster presentation. In addition to par- lel oral sessions for SPR and SSPR, there were two joint oral sessions of interest to both SPR and SSPR communities. Furthermore, to enhance the workshop experience, there were two joint panel sessions on “Structural Learning” and “Clustering,” in which short author presentations were followed by discussion. Another innovation this year was the ?lming of the proceedings by Videol- tures.
