Migrationsprozesse verändern die Geographie von Religionslandschaften. Das trifft auch auf Deutschland zu. Neben einer großen Zahl muslimischer Gemeinden prägt ebenso eine Vielzahl christlicher Migrationskirchen die religiöse Landkarte. Migrationskirchen sind nicht erst seit der Arbeitsmigration der 1960er Jahre Teil der Gesellschaft und damit auch der Geschichte. Der Band vereinigt Beiträge einer Tagung zur Relevanz jener Migrationskirchen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie diese Kirchen vor Ort durch die Begegnung Gesellschaft (mit)gestalten und (mit)verändern. Im interdisziplinären Austausch mit den Religionswissenschaften beschreiben und erfassen die Aufsätze das glokale Phänomen der Migrationskirchen und reflektieren es systematisch.[Encounter in Glocality. Besides a large number of Muslim communities there exists also a multitude of Christian congregations that shapes the religious mapping. Not just since the job migration of the 1960''s migrant churches are part of German society and therefore of its history. This volume collects papers presented at a conference discussing the relevance of migrant churches for the Federal Republic of Germany. It centers around the question how these churches participate in shaping and changing the society by local encounter. Scholars from theology and the religious studies describe, determine and systematically reflect the glocal phenomenon of migrant churches.

This book examines the oracle of deliverance that Yhwh communicated to Ebed-melech, the Cushite (Jer 39,15-18). In order to comprehend this analeptically presented promise, however, the research also scrutinizes two other related events in Jeremiah’s mission in the context of Jer 37–39: i) the unpleasant incident in which the Jerusalem officials maliciously threw the Lord’s messenger into the muddy cistern (Jer 38,1–6) and ii) Ebed-melech’s benevolent intervention to rescue the prophet from the water reservoir (Jer 38,7-13). In this monograph, the author uses the historical-critical method and rhetorical & narrative analyses.
