In the 18th century when literature began its long curve away from communal bible readings and allowed the poor to directly receive and enjoy the new ideas and stories of those around them. The age of religious wars was fading but grabs for the lands of other people and cultures was rising. These authors both reflect and lead society in the quest for understanding.
