This new book, Agroforestry and Climate Change Mitigation: Harnessing Multitrophic Interactions for Sustainable Plant Protection and Ecosystem Resilience, explores the fascinating world of multitrophic interactions in agroforestry systems and their implications for sustainable plant protection. Agroforestry, the integrated management of trees and crops or livestock on the same piece of land, is increasingly recognized as a sustainable agricultural practice that offers a range of ecological, economic, and social benefits. This volume brings together a diverse range of ecological, agronomic, and economic viewpoints to provide a comprehensive overview of agroforestry and its impact from climate change. The chapters cover the role of biodiversity in pest control, the impact of agroforestry practices on multitrophic interactions, the use of natural enemies for pest management, the potential of agroforestry for enhancing ecosystem services, and more. The volume looks at agroforestry in connection with climate change mitigation, environmental stress mitigation, beneficial insects, the role of detritivores in nutrient cycling and soil health, multitrophic pollination networks, plant-microbe synergy, root-mediated interactions, and much more.Exploring the intricate web of relationships among organisms in agroforestry systems to unlock new strategies for managing pests and promoting the health and resilience of agroforestry landscapes, this volume is a valuable resource for researchers, students, policymakers, and practitioners interested in understanding and harnessing the power of multitrophic interactions for sustainable plant protection.

Soil health is a state in which a soil fulfills its range of ecosystem functions appropriately in its environment. In simpler terms, the well-being of soil arises from favorable interactions among all its components, such as micro-biota, plants, and animals. The book Soil Health Management for Sustainable Development Goals primarily addresses the issue of soil management at the grassroots level. Soil fertility is the capacity of soil to sustain plant growth and optimize crop yield. This can be enhanced through the use of organic and inorganic fertilizers in the soil. As is widely recognized, the management of soil fertility is a prime concern for crop production and can be improved through the adoption of several sustainable management practices.Several techniques are suggested that enhance soil fertility and crop production while minimizing environmental impact. Soil fertility can be further improved by incorporating cover crops that add organic matter to the soil, leading to improved soil structure and promoting a healthy, fertile soil; by using green manure or growing legumes to fix nitrogen from the air through the process of biological nitrogen fixation by microbes. Healthy soils produce healthy crops that, in turn, nourish people and animals. Indeed, soil quality is directly linked to food quality and quantity. Soils supply essential nutrients, water, oxygen, and root support that our food-producing plants need to grow and thrive. The present book focuses on such global issues and offers possible solutions specifically related to UNSDG-17 goals. It also focuses on global strategies with possible solutions to manage sustainability.

This edited book brings out comprehensive insights on agro-forestry systems to cope up climate change globally. The main essence of this book is to unfurl the positive sides of agri-silvipastoral system to reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) and temperature. Agro-forestry can be defined as the farming practice combining field crops, perennial trees and livestock. The impact of agro-forestry on ecology is implacable which is thoroughly discussed under different heads in this book. In addition, the book is bundle of different novel sections including tables, graphical representation, and figures showcasing the bright side of agro-forestry system. Furthermore, trees which are important component of boosting socio-economic conditions, especially for the indigenous populations have also been discussed meticulously. Hence, all together this book deciphers an account of agro-forestry practices in society and environment along with the major pros- and cons- of the system. Undoubtedly, this information could enrich the scholarly knowledge for graduate research fellows, teachers, scientists, researchers, and environmentalists in gaining multifaceted information of agro-forestry system in both ecological and economical aspects. Different research highlights will be helpful for the policy makers to implement this novel practice in intensive production systems and harness the maximum benefits out of this.
