Drawing its origins from the Human Relations movement of the early 20th century and from public leadership orientations emphasising human aspects, human-centred public leadership approaches leadership from a system´s perspective. It explores societal institutions, organisations, and phenomena as an emergent system structure that manifests its existence through the multilateral and reciprocal interaction of its parts. Systems thinking and the need for systemic change suggest that one can only understand and improve a system by looking at how all the parts interact with each other and how they are integrated. The systemic nature of public leadership refers to dynamic learning mechanisms as they relate to the contents of leadership development tools which are derived mainly from the changing mode of the operating environment, from the leaders’ own experience, from their own personalities, from a learning-by-doing approach to leadership development, and from the ways in which leaders learn and unlearn.This book presents key concepts, approaches, origins, applications, and best practices to understand the evolution and nature of human-centred approach in public leadership. Jag heter Harri Jalonen och är filosofie doktor. Ja föddes i Åbo 1934. Som följd av kriget mellan Finland och Sovjetunionen skickades jag och min bror till Sverige som krigsbarn1941. Jag växte upp hos goda fosterföräldrar. Vid tiden för värnplikten sökte jag till flygvapnet som fältflygare och var även verksam som flyglärare. Som följd av ett flyghaveri skadade jag en ryggkota och beslöt mig för att ändra yrkesinriktning. Jag studerade till byggnadsingenjör på tekniskt gymnasium och var aktiv i byggbranschen i nära tio år. Men mitt flygintresse ledde till att jag yrkesmässigt gick tillbaka till civil luftfart. Mina huvudsakliga anställningar har varit chefsinstruktör vid Kungliga Svenska Aeroklubben, KSAK, avdelningsdirektör vid luftfartsinspektionen och universitetslektor vid Lärarhögskolan i Stockholm med ansvar för flyglärarutbildningen och sedermera universitetslektor vid Högskola Väst i Trollhättan. Mitt intresse för relationen människa – teknik, innebar att jag på fritid studerade beteendevetenskap vilket ledde till att jag disputerade med en avhandling som behandlade relationen flygutbildning och flygsäkerhet. Har utgivit följande facklitteratur: Elevhandbok 1972 (KSAK); Lärarhandbok 1977 (Luftfartsinspektionen/LIBER); Flygsäkerhetsattityder (Transportforskningen); Human Factors i flygutbildning (Ykespedagogiskt seminarium vid Högskolan för lärarutbildning i Stockholm); Flyglärarhandbok 2010 och Andra upplagan med tillägg 2013 (Svenska Flygutbildarföreningen.)

Mitt namn är Harri Jalonen. Jag är filosofie doktor. Jag föddes i Åbo 1934. Som följd av kriget mellan Finland och Sovjetunionen skickades jag och min bror till Sverige som krigsbarn 1941. Jag växte upp hos goda fosterföräldrar.I min första diktsamling, Resa mot okänd framtid, skildrar jag i poesins form min finska bakgrund och minnen om resan till Sverige. Vidare framför jag tankar om krigets vanvett och konsekvenser för både Nationer och individer. Känslor och upplevelser, även de i poesins form, är exempel på hur krigets elände påverkar människoöden. Dramatiska händelser medförde att jag kom till kärleksfulla fosterföräldrar, vilket jag med ödmjuk tacksamhet prisar ödet.
