Building on mindfulness and self-compassion practices, this step-by-step guide to secular insight meditation shows the way to freedom from deeply rooted thought patterns.Discover joy within yourself and heartfelt connection with others by releasing the habitual thought patterns that cause suffering and alienation. Drawing on Buddhist wisdom as well as the latest research in psychology and neuroscience, this book provides you with the tools needed to recognize the habits of thinking that fuel anger, desire, jealousy, and pride. Building on mindfulness and self-compassion practice, it offers a step-by-step series of guided meditations that create the conditions for liberating insight and wisdom to naturally arise. Thousands of people in the last decade have benefited from practicing the exercises in this book, which were developed and taught as part of the curriculum at the Mindfulness Association, an organization founded to deliver training in mindfulness, compassion, and insight.

A self-help version of the popular Mindfulness eight-week course, emphasising kindness and self-compassion. Mindfulness is an innate capacity of the mind that can be trained to alleviate stress and low mood, to reduce the power of rumination and self criticism, and to evoke emotional well being and proactivity. The Mindfulness Based Living Course is a practical guide to the development of a mindful approach to living in the modern world. Its distinctive feature is a compassionate approach to mindfulness that is based on many years of experience in the practice and delivery of mindfulness training by two of its leading exponents - the former Buddhist monk Choden and Heather Regan-Addis, both directors of the Mindfulness Association.

This book is a practice-based approach to compassion meditation training that equips readers with skills to bring compassion directly into their everyday lives. It sits within the secular mindfulness tradition and is a unique fusion of Buddhist, evolutionary, and psychological approaches to compassion and includes insights from neuroscience. It is based on the authors' experiences over the last decade of training hundreds of people in compassion meditation, including at the Master's degree level. It proceeds gradually, building capacity in stages. It starts with mindfulness and proceeds to self-compassion and then compassion for others, with a final chapter focusing on socially engaged compassion. It is a companion to our earlier successful book, published by O-Books, Mindfulness Based Living Course.
