Mentalisierung bedeutet die Faehigkeit, Gedanken, Gefuehle, Absichten, also die innere psychische Welt, bei sich und bei anderen wahrzunehmen. Die Ausbildung der Mentalisierungsfaehigkeit geschieht bis zur Adoleszenz und ihre Reifung ist abhaengig von Beziehungserfahrungen mit den ersten Bezugspersonen. Mentalisieren gilt als wichtiger Aspekt psychischer Gesundheit und foerdert die Gestaltung gelingender Beziehungen.
