Fortran 90 is the most radical revision ever of this popular language, bringing it up to date with current thinking in programming language development. This is the first book aimed directly at problem solving for Engineers and Scientists using the new features of Fortran 90. It can be used as a complete text for students learning Fortran for the first time. It is also a conversion text for those updating from Fortran 77, as differences between Fortran 90 and Fortran 77 are outlined. Array handling and subroutine structures are dealt with as these are a prominent feature of engineers' programs. Emphasis is put on problem exercises for students and on substantial case histories. Model answers to all exercises and cases are given. The programs are available on the Internet via anonymous ftp.

An encyclopaedic treatment of plant diseases in Europe, this book is designed as a standard reference volume for the general working plant pathologist and those taking advanced training in plant pathology. It provides a clear, informed and authoritative summary of each entry by an appropriate specialist, with a selection of key references for further reading. The handbook covers the economic diseases of crops and forest trees in Europe, treated by pathogen and classed as pathogens of major, moderate and minor importance. Approximately 1000 organisms are covered in total, including 600 fungi, 100 bacteria, and 300 viruses and similar organisms

This book is an essential companion volume to Quarantine Pests for Europe, 2nd Edition and Illustrations of Quarantine Pests for Europe. The three titles are the result of collaboration between CABI and EPPO in the compilation of data on the pests of phytosanitary significance for the European and Mediterranean region. This present publication provides updated geographic distributions of over 350 pests for which data sheets and illustrations are already available. A map is provided for each pest showing the current world distribution graphically. This is supported by a list of the countries and provinces in which the pest has been recorded with a coded indication of its current status. Coverage extends to insects, mites, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, viruses and parasitic plants. The pests concerned are either entirely absent from the European and Mediterranean region (A1 list) or have a restricted distribution (A2 list). Text within the book is provided in both English and French.

Many students, engineers, scientists and researchers have benefited from the practical, programming-oriented style of the previous editions of Programming the Finite Element Method, learning how to develop computer programs to solve specific engineering problems using the finite element method. This new fifth edition offers timely revisions that include programs and subroutine libraries fully updated to Fortran 2003, which are freely available online, and provides updated material on advances in parallel computing, thermal stress analysis, plasticity return algorithms, convection boundary conditions, and interfaces to third party tools such as ParaView, METIS and ARPACK. As in the previous editions, a wide variety of problem solving capabilities are presented including structural analysis, elasticity and plasticity, construction processes in geomechanics, uncoupled and coupled steady and transient fluid flow and linear and nonlinear solid dynamics.Key features: Updated to take into account advances in parallel computing as well as new material on thermal stress analysisPrograms use an updated version of Fortran 2003Includes exercises for studentsAccompanied by website hosting softwareProgramming the Finite Element Method, Fifth Edition is an ideal textbook for undergraduate and postgraduate students in civil and mechanical engineering, applied mathematics and numerical analysis, and is also a comprehensive reference for researchers and practitioners.Further information and source codes described in this text can be accessed at the following web sites: www.inside.mines.edu/~vgriffit/PFEM5 for the serial programs from Chapters 4-11www.parafem.org.uk for the parallel programs from Chapter 12
