This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 21st Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2016, held in Lima, Peru, in November 2016. The 69 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 131 submissions.

This proceedings volume includes papers presented at DGCI 2003 in Naples, Italy, November 19-21, 2003. DGCI 2003 was the 11th conference in a series of internationalconferencesonDiscreteGeometryforComputerImagery.Thec- ference was organized by the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies, Naples and the Institute of Cybernetics "E. Caianiello," National Research Council of Italy, Pozzuoli (Naples). DGCI 2003 was sponsored by the International Asso- ation for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). ThisisthesecondtimetheconferencetookplaceoutsideFrance.Thenumber ofresearchersactiveinthe?eldofdiscretegeometryandcomputerimageryis- creasing. Both these factors contribute to the increased international recognition of the conference. The DGCI conferences attract more and more academic and research institutions in di?erent countries. In fact, 68 papers were submitted to DGCI2003.Thecontributionsfocusondiscretegeometryandtopology,surfaces and volumes, morphology, shape representation, and shape analysis. After ca- ful reviewing by an international board of reviewers, 23 papers were selected for oral presentation and 26 for poster presentation. All contributions were sch- uled in plenary sessions.In addition, the program was enriched by three l- tures, presented by internationally well-known invited speakers: Isabelle Bloch ' (EcoleNationaleSup' erieuredesT' el' ecommunications,France),LonginJanLa- cki(TempleUniversity,USA),andRalphKopperman(CityCollegeofNewYork, USA). In 2002, a technical committee of the IAPR, TC18, was established with the intention to promote interactions and collaboration between researchers wo- ing on discrete geometry. The ?rst TC18 meeting was planned to be held in conjunction with DGCI 2003, to allow the members to discuss the activity of the technical committee. The outcome from this meeting will help the ongoing research and communication for researchers active within the ?eld during the 18 months between the conferences.

This proceedings volume includes papers for presentation at DGCI 2000 in U- sala, Sweden, 13-15 December 2000. DGCI 2000 is the 9th in a series of inter- tional conferences on Discrete Geometry for Computer Imagery. DGCI 2000 is organized by the Centre for Image Analysis (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Uppsala University). It is sponsored by the International Assoc- tion for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and by the Swedish Society for Automated Image Analysis (SSAB). This is the ?rst DGCI conference to take place outside France. The number of researchers active in the ?eld of discrete geometry and c- puter imagery is increasing. In comparison with the previous editions, DGCI 2000 has attracted a signi?cantly larger number of research contributions from a- demic and research institutions in di?erent countries. In fact, 62 papers were s- mitted. The contributions focus on topology, discrete images, surfaces and v- umes, shape representation, and shape understanding. After careful reviewing by an international board of reviewers, 40 papers from 16 countries were accepted, leading to a high-quality conference.Of the 40 accepted papers, 28 were selected for oral presentation and 12 for poster presentation. All accepted contributions have been scheduled in plenary sessions. The programme also has been enriched by three invited lectures, presented by three internationally known speakers: Pieter Jonker (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands), Pierre Soille (ISPRA, Italy), and Jayaram K. Udupa (University of Pennsylvania, USA).

The two-volume set LNCS 7066 and LNCS 7067 constitutes the proceedings of the Second International Visual Informatics Conference, IVIC 2011, held in Selangor, Malaysia, during November 9-11, 2011.The 71 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in these proceedings. They are organized in topical sections named computer vision and simulation; virtual image processing and engineering; visual computing; and visualisation and social computing. In addition the first volume contains two keynote speeches in full paper length, and one keynote abstract.
