Walking Together on the Way is the first agreed statement of the third phase of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, and the first ARCIC agreed statement since 2005.The language of 'walking together' is used by both Archbishop Justin Welby and Pope Francis to describe our ecclesial life and the ecumenical journey. Both have also, in different ways, endorsed the approach of receptive ecumenism: that we have much to learn and much to receive from each other.In Walking Together on the Way the Commission asks what Anglicans and Catholics can learn from one another to make us better able to walk together in the way of communion. Both our communions have an understanding that all the baptized share in the threefold office of Christ as prophet, priest and king. The document considers how this common understanding is lived out in our processes of governance and discernment at the local, regional and global levels.The Commission not only examines our respective ecclesial processes of discernment, but also seeks to identify the tensions and difficulties we experience; it asks where Angicans and Catholics can look to one another for wisdom. In this way, the Commission proposes, we can grow together through a journey of mutual enrichment. As the text affirms, 'We are pilgrims together walking on the way of penitence and renewal towards full communion.'

The Malines Conversations are often described as a precursor to the theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion initiated after the Second Vatican Council. The fruit of a friendship between a French priest and an English aristocrat, Cardinal Mercier's initial invitation in 1921 to a group of thinkers from both communions led to several rounds of discussion focused on issues that have long divided Catholics and Anglicans.Since 2013, an informal and international group of Anglican and Catholic friends, known as the Malines Conversations Group, has been meeting annually for discussion and fellowship.This volume represents the fruit of some of these conversations. The informal nature of the group allows for wide-ranging interrogation of diverse topics. The discussions acted as a kind of theological laboratory, enabling us to explore afresh some of the issues at stake both between and within our churches.This volume of essays includes contributions from sacramental theologians, liturgists, ecclesiologists, historians and philosophers. Most are actively involved in Christian ministry.Interspersed throughout are very short reflections from other theologians and Church leaders who have participated in the conversations as guests over the last decade.In the words of Rowan Williams' epilogue, the hope and prayer of the contributors is that 'this celebration and exploration of the heritage of Malines [might] give us again the grace of being surprised by the gift of Catholic communion.'

In July 1998, ten statues of martyrs of the twentieth century were unveiled surmounting the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey. Ten figures were identified from different continents and different churches: victims of Nazi and Bolshevik oppression, state-sponsored violence, and religious hatred, these images stand as a testimony to the bloodshed of the 20th century. Some, such as Oscar Romero and Martin Luther King, are famed across the world. Others are less known. On the 25th anniversary of the unveiling ceremony, The Nobel Army offers reflections on each of these ten lives and explores the questions surrounding their choices and tells some of the stories behind them. These statues were intended to represent all those millions of individuals who suffered for their faith in Christ in the twentieth century. In tribute to, and in solidarity with this contemporary reality, these ten reflections culminate in a chapter on the contemporary reality of Christian marginalisation and persecution, written by Archbishop Bashar Warda of Erbil, Iraq.
