Distinguishing with ?nite element, ?nite difference, and ?nite volume methods, meshless method discretizes the continuum body only with a set of nodal points andtheapproximationisconstructedentirelyintermsofnodes.Thereisnoneedof mesh or elements in this method. It does not possess the mesh-related dif?culties and provides an approach with more ?exibility in the applications in engineering and science. The meshless method started to capture the interest of a broader community of researchers only several years ago, and now it becomes a growing and evolving ?eld. It is showing that this is a very rich area to be explored, and has great promise for many very challenging computational problems. This book tells the story of ‘the Lady Footballers’. It covers their 1895 and 1896 tours through the eyes of the largely unsympathetic British press. It explains gender issues of the time, and the financial problems that doomed this experiment. Despite increasing opportunities in sport for British women during the late nineteenth century, virtually every segment of society opposed the idea of women playing football. In 1895, Nettie Honeyball and Florence Dixie formed the British Ladies’ Football Club (BLFC) intending to introduce the game to women and girls as a means of recreation and profit, over 10,000 spectators crowded the football ground in London to watch the BLFC in its first match. Nearly every London newspaper covered the event. These women endured public ridicule. They ignited the gender prejudice of the time, and confronted it head on wearing ‘men’s’ kit, and playing ‘men’s rules.’ Football's mystique was that it was a manly sport for men, thus these women footballers symbolized a paradox: those playing well were gender freaks; those not playing well proved it was a male game.This book was published as a special issue of the International Journal of the History of Sport.

This book seeks to explain the unique social organization of home ownership in contemporary Hong Kong. Specifically, the book deals with the genesis of home ownership from three areas: housing histories, family culture and capital gains from home transactions. It is agreed that extreme deprivations in housing conditions in early lives, a strong family culture of mutual help as well as unprecedented capital gains, all contribute towards explaining the complex nature of home ownership growth. In conclusion the book suggests that with China regaining sovereignty after July 1997, the social organization of home ownership will be further complicated by more internal migrations from other parts of China, making housing problems even more acute.
