Andalas International Nursing Conference (AINiC) is a dedicated conference aimed at researchers in nursing, public health and other health sciences topics. The 1st AINiC 2017 was held in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia, from 25-27 September 2017. The conference theme was "Strengthening Research Capacity and Disseminating New Findings in Nursing and Public Health". This event was successful in bringing together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, and students worldwide. It was an inspiring occasion for most of the participants and was a great opportunity for research development learning, especially with regard to disseminating new findings in nursing and to stimulate networking of nursing professionals, researchers and educators. The research topics that were presented during the conference have clearly indicated the need for literature development and guidance of clinical practice decisions. We hope this conference has provided ample opportunities for participants to gain a more in-depth understanding of knowledge and renewed perspectives. All these aspects have been acknowledged by the participants during the conference. The 1st AINiC was a rewarding event and we look forward to your attendance and participation in the next AINiC conference that will also provide stimulating research developments, networking and cooperation.

This is the biography of the mighty ceremonial waka taua Ngātokimatawhaorua that rests on the Treaty Grounds at Waitangi.

The inspiration for its construction came from Te Puea Hērangi. In the late 1930s the Waikato leader held a dream to build seven waka taua for the 1940 centennial commemorations at Waitangi. By 1937 two waka had been commissioned. Carved in Northland under the guidance of Pita Heperi (Te Tai Tokerau) and Piri Poutapu  (Waikato), Ngātokimatawhaorua was one of them.

But it was to be many decades before the true power of the waka to inspire a people was realised. In 1974 Ngātokimatawhaorua was refurbished by the late Sir Heke-nuku-mai-nga-iwi ‘Hec’ Busby for relaunching during Waitangi Day ceremonies. It was then that Te Puea’s dream turned into reality. By 1990, The Year of the Waka, 22 waka and their 2000 crew gathered at Waitangi.

Ngātokimatawhaorua and others became symbols of Māori unity and pride and an important part of the renaissance of the traditions of carving and voyaging around Aotearoa and beyond.

This book is about an adventure that God put upon my heart and put me on years ago. Years ago, I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma, and three months after that, my wife was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin''s lymphoma. At that time, we had five children from the ages of two to ten. It was a life-changing and spiritual change for both of us. Also, this spring, I was given a sabbatical. A buddy and I drove across the country on our motorcycles. This book is about my adventure with God through cancer and what I believe was my and my wife''s ultimate healing, and it is also about my adventure and experience going across the country on my motorcycle. Each chapter will include/parallel my experience and adventure in a certain area with God and my adventure on the bike. My prayer and hope is that this will lead the reader to begin and/or continue on their own adventure with God. As God spoke to me, "There is so much more to Me than what you have learned and experienced. Just be open," I hope He will also speak to you. Let us go deeper and closer in our walk with Jesus.
