As USA TODAY, The Nation’s No. 1 Newspaper, puts it, “The Beatles have never lost their standing as the world''s most influential and popular band. They''ve sold more records than any act in U.S. history.” But in the beginning, few people knew their names. The Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—began as an ambitious band out of Liverpool, England, that wanted to play rock ‘n’ roll music in the American style. Often rejected by music producers, they honed their sound in the grimy clubs of Hamburg, Germany, and in small venues throughout Britain. In 1962, their single “Love Me Do” became their first hit, and by 1964 The Beatles were musically on top of the world. The group’s look, sound, and musical approach influenced a generation and brought fame beyond the band’s wildest dreams. But the stress of their fame and their individual career desires eventually broke up The Beatles in 1970. Yet, the band’s popularity remained strong for decades and still shows no sign of waning.

Eric Bischoff has been called pro wrestling''s most hated man. He''s been booed, reviled, and burned in effigy. Fans have hurled everything from beer bottles to fists at him. Industry critics have spewed a tremendous amount of venom about his spectacular rise and stupendous crash at World Championship Wrestling. But even today, Eric Bischoff''s revolutionary influence on the pro wrestling industry can be seen on every television show and at every live event. Bischoff has kept quiet while industry "pundits" and other know-it-alls pontificated about what happened during the infamous Monday Night Wars. Basing their accounts on third- and fourth-hand rumors and innuendo, the so-called experts got many more things wrong than right. Now, in Controversy Creates Cash, Bischoff tells what really happened. Beginning with his days as a salesman for Verne Gagne''s American Wrestling Association, Bischoff takes readers behind the scenes of wrestling, writing about the inner workings of the business in a way never before revealed. He demonstrates how controversy helped both WCW and WWE. Eric gives the real numbers behind WCW''s red ink -- far lower than reported -- and talks about how Turner Broadcasting''s merger with Time Warner, and then Time Warner''s merger with AOL, devastated not only WCW but many creative and entrepreneurial businesses within the conglomerate. Bischoff has surprisingly kind words for old rivals like Vince McMahon, but pulls no punches with friends and enemies alike. Among his revelations: How teaming with Mickey Mouse turned WCW into a national brand. Why Hulk Hogan came to WCW. Why he fired Jesse Ventura for sleeping on the job. Why Steve Austin didn''t deserve another contract at WCW, and how Bischoff''s canning him was the best thing that ever happened to Austin. How Ted Turner decided WCW should go head-to-head against Raw on Monday nights. How Nitro revolutionized wrestling. Where the New World Order really began. How corporate politics killed WCW. And how he found his inner heel and learned to love being the guy everyone loves to despise. Bischoff brings a surprisingly personal touch to the story, detailing his rough-and-tumble childhood in Detroit, talking about his family and the things he did to cope with the stress of the high-octane media business. Now a successful entertainment producer as well as a wrestling personality, Bischoff tells how he found contentment after being unceremoniously "sent home" from WCW. Love him or hate him, readers will never look at a pro wrestling show quite the same way after reading Bischoff''s story in Controversy Creates Cash.

Most 'best-of' wrestling books which immortalise showdowns between rival Superstars focus on single matches. But a match is simply one part of a much longer, much more interesting storyline. What makes a showdown memorable, even legendary, is more than the moves, the bodyslams, the count-outs. It's not just the action that drives the drama -- it's the backstory: the feud. From the immortal Hulk Hogan to the 'legend-killer' Randy Orton, Showdowns is the first book to detail in full the stories of the rivalries that fuelled epic encounters between the greatest names in World Wrestling Entertainment. Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels are just some of those whose long-running battles with their personal arch-nemeses are examined here in vivid and entertaining fashion; ratcheting up the tension in match after match, stoking up partisan and explosive support on the part of their fans and culminating in their ultimate showdowns. Illustrated throughout with eye-popping action photographs, this is a book no wrestling fan will want to be without.

Two decades of the top twenty fan favorites and the matches that made them famous. It starts with an insult...then comes a push, a shove...a betrayal. Before you know it, the two wrestlers are at each other''s throats. It''s a rivalry, it''s personal...it''s a showdown. Some showdowns are straightforward: John Cena wants to prove himself by taking on JBL; Randy Orton knows that if he can slay Undertaker, it will prove that he is the legend killer. Others are grudge matches -- The Rock is finally going to put Stone Cold Steve Austin, the bionic redneck, in his place. There are conflicts we can all identify with: Steve Austin doing to Mr. McMahon what we dream of doing to our boss every Monday morning. There are the epic showdowns that evoke the eternal struggle: Undertaker versus Kane. And the truly bizarre: Mankind against Shawn Michaels. Here for the first time ever, Jeremy Roberts (co-author of Controversy Creates Cash and Batista Unleashed) examines the top twenty rivalries of the past twenty years. Roberts takes us on a veritable tour of recent wrestling history, from Hulk Hogan''s showdowns with Randy Savage to the gargantuan struggles between Undertaker and Batista. The high-flying action of the Hardy Boyz, the Dudleys, Edge & Christian -- all are examined in what amounts to a brief for the wrestlers'' inclusion in the hall of fame. From the Monday Night Wars between nWo and D-Generation X to the real-life conflict that spawned Matt Hardy''s memorable bloodfest with Edge, Roberts takes you into the ring so vividly you''ll come away with bruises.

Along the way, Mysterio introduces American audiences to the mysteries of lucha libre, the high-flying, anything-goes Mexican wrestling style that he has done so much to popularize in the U.S. He also talks about the debts he owes to wrestlers such as Konnan, known as the Mexican Hulk Hogan, and dishes some behind- the-scenes dirt on the collapse of WCW at the height of the Monday Night Wars. Mysterio talks tenderly—but realistically—of his friend Eddie Guerrero, providing a well-rounded picture of one of the most beloved wrestling figures of recent history. Some of them are heavenly, Lucy, for instance, has legs that go on forever, Alice has a dancer''s body, and with our Dave - an experienced striker - she goes on forever too. Then there''s the body in the freezer. Not nice at all.

But what do you do when the boss takes an interest in your beautiful blonde lover? Worse, what do you do when she goes missing?
