This work proposes a new American economic Community as a response to the rise of the European Community and the increasing domination of the Asian market by Japan. The author develops a strategy and structure for such an American community--including North, Central, and South America--which would represent the largest economic market in the world. He proposes a massive free-trade zone including all of the Western Hemisphere, which would not only revitalize the economic position of the United States but would raise the standards of living of all nations in this hemisphere. While enormous hurdles exist for the New American Community--for example, deep disparities in wealth, technological advancement, and democratic development--there are tremendous possibilities and positive signs. Here, Jerry Rosenberg lays out a workable structure, plan, and treaty for the Community, truly uniting all the Americas. His work will be of interest to scholars and policymakers in international economics, development economics, international finance and trade, and political science.

Using the 1947 Marshall Plan as a guide for reconstruction and rehabilitation of western Europe following World War II, this volume anticipates the need for U.S. financial aid of billions of dollars to serve as the glue for stability and peace throughout the region of the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, including Pakistan and Afghanistan. As with the Marshall Plan, demands for regional economic integration are described with a model for a potential economic community of 28 nations, composed of one billion people.

In The Rebirth of the Middle East,Rosenberg discusses how peace, stability, and prosperity are dependent upon economic and trade relations between Israel and Palestine, as well as other neighboring Arab and Muslim countries. The world is poised to participate in this healing process with funding and training and lacks only the needed conditions to proceed. Rosenberg asserts that this process of stabilization can benefit from a reinvented Marshall Plan, modeled on the 1948 U.S. humanitarian European Recovery Program. In the long run, success will be measured by the creation of a Middle East Economic Community. As you point out, there is an opportunity to define the future of the Middle East in terms of reconciliation and coexistence rather than confrontation and violence. There are no limits to what can be done if the region's energy and talents can be channeled into creating new opportunities and building a land as bountiful and peaceful as it is holy.—Bill Clinton, former President of the United StatesPraise for Jerry Rosenberg's Nation-Building: A Middle East Recovery Program:To Jerry M. Rosenberg- With much respect for his attempt to organize a great dream. I believe you have addressed yourself to the very foundations which will lie at the heart of the future of the region and I hope indeed that the day is not far off when the plan will be brought to realization.—Shimon Peres, former Prime Minster of Israel[Nation-Building provides] insights into the interplay of underlying variables, encompassing significant regional, global, religious, secular, socio-political, and historical factors, of the permeability of the Middle East.—el-Sayed el-Aswad, Ph.D., The University of Bahrain, Digest of Middle East StudiesI hope, by drawing on the Marshall Plan, you are able to formulate a blueprint that can succeed in the Middle East. I further hope that you are able to use the Marshall Plan to illustrate to others how such plans have been successful in the past, and how, despite the daunting odds, such a plan could create economic growth, democracy, and peace in our region. I wish you much success in your important work.—Natan Sharansky, former Deputy Prime Minister of Israel

The Concise Encyclopedia of the Great Recession 2007-2012 brings to the present the necessary information for understanding the first major recession of the 21st century and one of the deepest since the Great Depression itself. Its description of recession-related actors and events since its start provides an in-depth understanding of this major rupture in modern economy, forever changing, some have argued, not only the distribution of income in the United States but the balance of economic power across the globe. Acclaimed by The New York Times as the "leading business and technical lexicographer in the nation" and serving as business terminology consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary for a quarter century, Jerry M. Rosenberg provides the most accurate and current explanation of this economic catastrophe of the last five years.Rosenberg describes and updates the events, actors, institutions, rules, regulations, and current impact of this global financial crisis that pushed banks, financial institutions, and corporations across the world to the edge. With entries on key individuals, companies, government programs, financial instruments, and institutions, Rosenberg provides an essential reference to the most critical recession the United States has faced since the Great Depression of the 1930s. This work is an ideal tool for scholars and students seeking more information on this major event in world history.

As the US and the European Union dealt with the fallout of the 2008 financial crisis, China moved quickly to create the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013. The aim was to develop ports, rails, roads and more, in nations around the world. China now has contracts in over 148 countries and provides loans and workers to fulfill these projects, all with hidden agendas. The intent behind the initiative is to economically dominate the world in short time, assuring China’s goal of becoming the most powerful nation in the world. There is a growing mistrust of the BRI in recipient countries, between the elites and the populations at large. To combat the initiative, Europe is hoping to evolve a Global Gateway (GG) and President Biden is calling for a Build Back Better World (B3W) to attract a global network for developing nations with needed funds. Also outlined is the New EU–US sponsored Marshall Plan (NEMP), borrowing the best concepts from the original 1948 Marshall Plan, to assist in combating the statecraft of China.
