Information Processing and Security Systems is a collection of forty papers that were originally presented at an international multi-conference on Advanced Computer Systems (ACS) and Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management Applications (CISIM) held in Elk, Poland. This volume describes the latest developments in advanced computer systems and their applications within artificial intelligence, biometrics and information technology security. The volume also includes contributions on computational methods, algorithms and applications, computational science, education and industrial management applications.

The book to which I was asked by the editors to write a foreword is an interesting collection of contributions. It presents the extended versions of the authors' works already introduced at the International Multi-Conference on Advanced Computer Information and Security Systems ACS-CISIM 2005. These contributions had already been reviewed once before the conference for presentation at the conference while some of them passed another selection to be prepared in their current versions for this book. I am convinced the book will be of help to the researchers in the field of Computer Methods in Biometrics, Security Systems and Artificial Intelligence. They would find the contributions of other researchers of real benefit to them. I would encourage those who have the book in hands to read it. The Computer Science is relatively new field which is developing very fast not only because due to the huge interest of scientists and the market request, but also because this science has created possibilities for people of investigation and solved many problems that some time ago seemed to be insolvable. Such problems had only been described in science fiction novels, like underwater journeys of captain Nemo described by Jules Verne in XIX century. At present, various human dreams are successively becoming reality exactly as the underwater journeys became possible in the XX century. The proposed book gives you a view of the progress in such domains of Computer Science as Artificial Intelligence, Biometrics, Security of Information Technology, Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management. The works contained in the book describe the newest investigation results of devoted scientists from Europe and Asia. The book is written in a hard scientific language. A collection of 40 selected papers presented to the eighth International Conference on Computer Systems, October 2001 in Mielno, Poland. These papers provide a summary of practice and research progress in information technologies. The first section - recognition, security and safety - concentrates on the widely-known problems of information systems security. These chapters show the new cryptographic data protection algorithms which can be easily used in authorizing secure procedures for the user's information systems. The next section - methods of artificial intelligence - presents methods and algorithms which are the basics for the applications of artificial intelligence environments. These chapters include fuzzy classifiers to analyze statistical data in the economic area, genetic algorithms applications to synthesize neuron and fuzzy regulators and the fuzzy set theory for expert systems. This is followed by - intelligent agents and distributed activities - which includes laboratory research on multiagent intelligent systems as well as upon their applications in searching information, negotiating and supporting decision.An adaptive knowledge system is also presented here as a basis of a multiagent system. Tools for creating remote teaching systems (XML language, Petri Networks) and problems to support remote teaching by means of a knowledge base are also discussed. The final section - distributed productions networks and modelling complex systems - presents production processes in distributed shared virtual environment, virtual solution of integer optimization problems and a queuing approach to performance optimization in the distributed production network. Attention is also paid to complex dynamic economic and engineering systems.

Enhanced Methods in Computer Security, Biometric and Artificial Intelligence Systems contains over 30 contributions from leading European researchers showing the present state and future directions of computer science research."Methods of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents" contains 13 contributions analyzing such areas of AI as fuzzy set theory, predicate logic, neural networks, clustering, data mining and others. It also presents applications of AI as possible solutions for problems like firm bankruptcy, soil erosion, flight control and others. "Information Technology Security" covers three important areas of security engineering in information systems: software security, public key infrastructure and the design of new cryptographic protocols and algorithms. "Biometric Systems" comprises 11 contributions dealing with face picture analysis and recognition systems. This chapter focuses on known methods of biometric problem solution as well as the design of new models.

The book presents a collection of carefully selected, peer-reviewed papers from the 21st International Multi-Conference on Advanced Computer Systems 2018 (ACS 2018), which was held in Międzyzdroje, Poland on September 24th-26th, 2018. The goal of the ACS 2018 was to bring artificial intelligence, software technologies, biometrics, IT security and distance learning researchers in contact with the ACS community, and to give ACS attendees the opportunity to exchange notes on the latest advances in these areas of interest. The primary focus of the book is on high-quality, original and unpublished research, case studies, and implementation experiences. All of the respective papers are of practical relevance to the construction, evaluation, application or operation of advanced systems. This book presents a collection of high-quality research papers accepted to multi-conference consisting of International Conference on Image Processing and Communications (IP&C 2021), International Conference on Computer Recognition Systems (CORES 2021), International Conference on Advanced Computer Systems (ACS 2021) held jointly in Bydgoszcz, Poland (virtually), in June 2021. The accepted papers address current computer science and computer systems-related technological challenges and solutions, as well as many practical applications and results. The first part of the book deals with advances in pattern recognition and classifiers, the second part is devoted to image processing and computer vision, while the third part addresses practical applications of computer recognition systems.
