Schreiben kann als ein wichtiger Teil des Fachunterrichts in den meisten Unterrichtsfächern angesehen werden. Dabei kann das Schreiben unterschiedliche Ziele verfolgen: Zum einen steht die Entwicklung von den für gesellschaftliche Teilhabe wichtigen Schreibkompetenzen im Fokus. Zum anderen kann das Schreiben als Werkzeug der Entwicklung kognitiver und konzeptueller Fähigkeiten und zur Strukturierung, Weiterentwicklung und Sicherung von fachlichem Wissen genutzt werden. Nicht immer scheint jedoch im Schulalltag, in der Unterrichtsplanung und den Lehrmaterialien genau geklärt zu sein, welchem Zweck einzelne Schreibanlässe dienen sollen.Die Beitragenden werfen in diesem Sammelband einen kritischen und sortierenden Blick auf das Schreiben in verschiedenen Unterrichtsfächern. Dabei wird insbesondere die Frage nach impliziten und expliziten Zielvorstellungen in Bezug auf das Schreiben im Unterrichtsfach diskutiert. Daran wird gefragt, wie diese Zielvorstellungen im Unterricht thematisiert werden und ob und inwiefern das Schreiben im Unterricht entsprechend eingesetzt und entwickelt wird. Diskrepanzen und Verbesserungsbedarf sowohl in der fachdidaktischen Konzeption als auch in der praktischen Umsetzung werden thematisiert.
