Program generation holds the promise of helping to bridge the gap between application-level problem solutions and efficient implementations at the level of today's source programs as written in C or Java. Thus, program generation can substantially contribute to reducing production cost and time-to-market in future software production, while improving the quality and stability of the product. This book is about domain-specific program generation; it is the outcome of a Dagstuhl seminar on the topic held in March 2003. After an introductory preface by the volume editors, the 18 carefully reviewed revised full papers presented are organized into topical sections on- surveys of domain-specific programming technologies- domain-specific programming languages- tool support for program generation- domain-specific techniques for program optimization

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, ECOOP 2004, held in Oslo, Norway in June 2004.The 25 revised full papers presented together with the abstracts of 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 132 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on encapsulation, program analysis, software engineering, aspects, middleware, types, verification, and systems.

ECOOP is the premier forum in Europe for bringing together practitioners, - searchers, and students to share their ideas and experiences in a broad range of disciplines woven with the common thread of object technology. It is a collage of events, including outstanding invited speakers, carefully refereed technical - pers, practitioner reports re?ecting real-world experience, panels, topic-focused workshops, demonstrations, and an interactive posters session. The 18th ECOOP 2004 conference held during June 14–18, 2004 in Oslo, Norway represented another year of continued success in object-oriented p- gramming, both as a topic of academic study and as a vehicle for industrial software development. Object-oriented technology has come of age; it is now the commonly established method for most software projects. However, an - panding ?eld of applications and new technological challenges provide a strong demand for research in foundations, design and programming methods, as well as implementation techniques. There is also an increasing interest in the in- gration of object-orientation with other software development techniques. We anticipate therefore that object-oriented programming will be a fruitful subject of research for many years to come. Thisyear,theprogramcommitteereceived132submissions,ofwhich25were acceptedforpublicationafterathoroughreviewingprocess.Everypaperreceived atleast4reviews.Paperswereevaluatedbasedonrelevance,signi?cance,clarity, originality, and correctness. The topics covered include: programming concepts, program analysis, software engineering, aspects and components, middleware, veri?cation, systems and implementation techniques. These were complemented by two invited talks, from Matthias Felleisen and Tom Henzinger. Their titles andabstracts are also included in these proceedings.

The ASM 2000 workshop was held in the conference center of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) at Monte Verit a, Canton Ticino, March 19-24, 2000. The ASM formalism was proposed together with the thesis that it is suitable to model arbitrary computer systems on arbitrary abstraction levels. ASMs have been successfully used to analyze and specify various hardware and software systems including numerous computer languages. The aim of the workshop was to bring together domain-experts, using ASMs as a practical speci cation method, and theorists working with ASMs and related methods. In addition the workshop served as a forum on theoretical and practical topics that relate to ASMs in a broad sense. Three tutorials including hands-on experience with tools were organized by U. Gl¨asser and G. del Castillo (on the topic \Specifying Concurrent Systems with ASMs"), H. Russ ¨ and N. Shankar (on the topic \A Tutorial Introduction to PVS"), M. Anlau , P.W. Kutter, and A. Pierantonio (on the topic \Developing Domain Speci c Languages"). In response to the organization committee’s call for papers, 30 papers were submitted, each of which was independently reviewed by four members of the program committee. This volume presents a selection of 12 of the refereed papers and two reports on industrial ASM application at Siemens AG and Microsoft Research, together with contributions based on the invited talks given by A.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the International Workshop on Abstract State Machines, ASM 2000, held in Monte Verita, Switzerland in March 2000. The 12 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 30 submissions. Also included are an introductory overview, two reports on industrial ASM applications, as well as six contributions based on invited talks. All in all, the volume competently presents the state of the art in research and applications of abstract state machines.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Compiler Construction, CC 2007, held in Braga, Portugal, in March 2007 as part of ETAPS 2007, the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software. The 15 revised full are organized in topical sections on architecture, garbage collection and program analysis, register allocation, and program analysis.
