School Shootings - umgangssprachlich auch als Amokläufe an Schulen bezeichnet - stellen eine seltene, aber schwerwiegende Form von zielgerichteter Gewalt an Schulen dar. Dieses Buch stellt erstens die in der aktuellen wissenschaflichen Forschung diskutierten Ursachen dar. Neben Tätermerkmalen wird auf das private wie schulische Lebensumfeld , den Einfluss von Massenmedien, die Zugänglichkeit zu Waffen sowie auf den Konsum gewalthaltiger Medien abgehoben. Zweitens werden  primär- und sekundärpräventive Maßnahmen dargestellt wie das Profiling, Threat Assessments sowie das Phänomen des Leakings. Und drittens liegt der Fokus auf der Nachsorge bei School Shootings, deren Ziel es ist, erlebte psychotraumatische Belastung zu bewältigen. Es werden notfallpsychologische Akuthilfen, kurzfristige bis mittelfristige, traumafokussierte, sowie längerfristige Interventionsmassnahmen für Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene näher erläutert. Praxisexkurse zur Prävention als auch zur Nachsorge ergänzen die entsprechenden Kapitel.

Rassismus, also Diskriminierung von Menschen aufgrund deren vermeintlicher ethnischer Herkunft, ist an Schulen allgegenwärtig. Neben Schüler*innen, Referendar*innen und Lehrer*innen sind mithin alle Akteur*innen im schulischen Kontext von dieser Thematik betroffen.

Warum ist dem so? Wie lässt sich rassistische Diskriminierung erklären? Welche Auswirkungen hat dieses Verhalten auf Betroffene? Und wie kann Schule dem begegnen? All dies sind Fragen, die sich stellen und die in diesem Buch in der Absicht beantwortet werden sollen, allen im Schulkontext handelnden Personen eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit den eigenen rassismusrelevanten Wissensbeständen zu ermöglichen. Dieses Buch trägt dazu bei, dass sich Schule zu einem rassismussensiblen Raum entwickelt, in dem sich alle Akteur*innen rassismussensibel verhalten.

Daher werden neben einem Überblick über die Geschichte des Rassismus, Ansätze zur Erklärung von rassistischen Verhaltensweisen und Auswirkungen von rassistischer Diskriminierung auch Präventions- und Interventionsansätze für eine rassismuskritische Praxis in der Schule vorgestellt.

School shootings - colloquially referred to as school rampages - represent a rare but serious form of targeted violence in schools. This book first presents the causes discussed in current scientific research. In addition to perpetrator characteristics, emphasis is placed on the private and school environment, the influence of mass media, accessibility to weapons, and the consumption of violent media. Secondly, primary and secondary preventive measures are presented, such as profiling, threat assessments and the phenomenon of leaking. And thirdly, the focus is on aftercare in school shootings, the aim of which is to cope with experienced psychotraumatic stress. Emergency psychological acute aids, short-term to medium-term, trauma-focused, as well as longer-term intervention measures for children, adolescents and adults are explained in more detail. Practical excursions on prevention as well as aftercare complement the corresponding chapters.

Racism, i.e. discrimination against people on the basis of their supposed ethnic origin, is omnipresent in schools. Apart from students, trainees and teachers, all actors in the school context are affected by this topic.Why is this so? How can racist discrimination be explained? What effects does this behavior have on those affected? And how can schools counteract it? These are all questions that arise and which this book aims to answer with the intention of enabling all those acting in the school context to critically examine their own knowledge bases relevant to racism. This book contributes to the development of school as a racism-sensitive space in which all actors behave in a racism-sensitive manner.Therefore, in addition to an overview of the history of racism, approaches to explaining racist behavior and the effects of racist discrimination, prevention and intervention approaches for a practice critical of racism in schools are presented.

Bullying is a widespread problem in schools. This book provides current explanations for the phenomenon of bullying in schools. It is shown that bullying does not only take place between victims and perpetrators, but that usually all members of a school class can be involved. Accordingly, it is described what consequences bullying can have for all those involved.  Secondly, general prevention and intervention approaches are described and eleven anti-bullying programs are presented in detail. A special focus of the book is on bullying aftercare concepts as well as practice-related digressions by proven experts.

Zudem werden Gruppen mit erhöhter Vulnerabilität, wie Minoritäten und neurodivergente Personen, betrachtet. Weitere Themen sind sexuelle und geschlechtliche Vielfalt an Schulen sowie praktische Fallbeispiele und Interventionen. Insgesamt bietet das Buch einen umfassenden Einblick in die vielschichtige Thematik der Angst und richtet sich an Fachleute und Interessierte im Bildungsbereich.

The book covers how to deal with grief in schools. Grief reactions of children and adolescents are described and reasons for grief are presented: Death due to chronic illness, sudden deaths such as suicide, accident, and severe targeted violence. Appropriate intervention measures are presented. Finally, the limitations of these intervention measures in schools are discussed.
