TOILETPAPER is a picture based magazine founded in 2010 by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari. Each picture springs from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestration of people it becomes the materialisation of the duo's mental outbursts. TOILETPAPER combines the vernacular of commercial photography with twisted narrative tableaux and a troubling imagination, creating a world that displays ambiguous and surrealistic imagery. TOILETPAPER images have been reviewed by weekly and art magazines worldwide and appeared in special issues of magazines such as Vice and Hunger. TOILETPAPER was also exhibited on the High Line Billboard in Chelsea, NYC in May, 2012. In the same year images taken from the first six issues have been published in an anthology, together with selected narrative texts, that was reviewed in The New York Times' Top 10 Photo Books.

Each picture springs from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestration of people it becomes the materialization of the artists’ mental outbursts. Since the first issue, in June 2010, Toiletpaper has created a world that displays ambiguous narratives and a troubling imagination. It combines the vernacular of commercial photography with twisted narrative tableaux and surrealistic imagery. The result is a publication that is itself a work of art which, through its accessible form as a magazine, and through its wide distribution, challenges the limits of the contemporary art economy.

Chromotherapia: The Feel-Good Color Photography offers genuine relief from the black-and-white world. Often disparaged, not always taken seriously, color photography has nevertheless allowed artists to get out their palettes and “paint.” Many have freed themselves from the medium’s documentary status to explore the common roots of the image and the imaginary, flirting with the worlds of Surrealism and Pop. Famed Italian visual artist and curator Maurizio Cattelan and curator Sam Stourdzé offer a rereading of the history of color photography through the 20th century into the 21st, and through the works of over 20 artists who take us on a journey into vibrant, acidulous worlds. Treat yourself to sunny yellow, azure blue, bright red, bubbly orange and more, straight from the lenses of the biggest names in color photography. Artist include: Yevonde Middleton, Harold Edgerton, Erwin Blumenfeld, Walter Chandoha, William Wegman, Hiro, Guy Bourdin, Alex Prager, Juno Calypso, Adrienne Raquel, Miles Aldridge, Ouka Leele, Hassan Hajjaj, Ruth Ossai, Pierre et Gilles, Sandy Skoglund, Martin Parr, Arnold Odermatt, Toiletpaper.

This back-to-back editorial collaboration between the artistic duo of Toiletpaper and Ellen von Unwerth brings together two unmistakable visual languages in a bold exchange of images created for the ToiletEllen PapervonUnwerth Calendar 2027. The calendar presents Toiletpaper’s hyper-saturated, surreal tableaux in dialogue with von Unwerth’s sensual, ironic, and high-gloss femininity. Playful, provocative, and unapologetically excessive, the project transforms the calendar format into a collectible object—where pop aesthetics, seduction, and subversive humor collide month after month.
