Der Anteil des Dienstleistungssektors am Bruttoinlandsprodukt der Industrieländer wächst kontinuierlich. Dennoch behandelt die betriebswirtschaftliche Forschungsliteratur hauptsächlich industriebetriebliche Fragestellungen, und Themen des Dienstleistungsmanagements wurden bisher bestenfalls aus marketingorientierter Sicht betrachtet. Michael Höck setzt sich mit der Übertragung produktionswirtschaftlicher Konzepte und Methoden auf Serviceorganisationen auseinander und beleuchtet die Besonderheiten der Leistungserstellung. Im Mittelpunkt stehen folgende Themen: strategische Führungsfunktionen, Management moderner Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien und integriertes Produktivitäts- und Qualitätsmanagement. Zudem werden im Rahmen des operativen Managements die simultane Leistungsprogramm- und Personalbedarfsplanung und das Revenue Management professioneller Dienstleistungen aufgearbeitet.
