This reference book provides comprehensive coverage of the application of naturally derived chitosan for improved food quality and shelf life. It describes the application of the chitosan-based composite coating in combination with antimicrobial agents, such as essential oils, organic acid, metal ions, and inorganic nanomaterials. It includes the sensory evaluation of chitosan-coated foods. It also discusses the nutraceutical properties of the coatings. The book also includes information about the marketing, technology transfer, commercialization, and regulatory guidelines associated with these products. The book is meant for researchers and industry experts in food processing and food engineering.Key FeaturesReviews the effects of chitosan coating on delaying loss in chlorophyll quality, malondialdehyde, weight loss, soluble solids content, pH, firmness in various fruits and vegetables Discusses the nutraceutical properties and nutritional benefits of chitosan coating Highlights the combinative effect during the storage of fruits and vegetables using evaporative coolant structure Discusses application of techniques such as proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and chemometrics for the characterization of the bioactive present in these coatings Covers the various natural sources of chitosan

This work explores the transformative potential of neuroscience in reshaping India's criminal justice system. It deftly navigates the complex terrain of neurolaw, examining its implications for criminal responsibility, rehabilitation, and the very foundations of legal thought. Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscientific research and India's rich philosophical traditions, the work proposes innovative approaches to longstanding legal and ethical dilemmas. It covers a wide range of topics with depth and nuance, from a neurocriminological audit of Indian criminal codes to an exploration of neuroplasticity in offender rehabilitation. It includes a fascinating case study of the Vipassana meditation program in Indian prisons, illustrating the practical applications of neurolaw principles. The volume promises to spark crucial conversations about the nature of human behavior, the purpose of punishment, and the possibility of a more humane and effective justice system. It is a bold step toward a neuroscience-informed jurisprudence that honors both scientific truth and human dignity. At the intersection of neuroscience, law, and Indian philosophy, the work offers a unique perspective on some of the most pressing questions in modern jurisprudence. Representing a significant contribution to the global discourse on neurolaw and offering concrete suggestions for legal reform, judicial practice, and policymaking, it will be an essential read for legal scholars, neuroscientists, policymakers, and anyone interested in the future of criminal justice.

Recent years have seen a sharp rise in novel resistant pathogenic microorganisms. Bioprospecting, or the systematic identification, evaluation and exploitation of the diversity of life in a certain place, is a means of mining microorganisms for what is known as exploitable biology, or valuable genetic information. This information can then be used in the development of novel antibiotics, enzymes, food sources, and energy sources, all of which are of pressing industrial interest across agricultural, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, biomedical and bioenergetic fields. Microbe-derived bioactive compounds are currently of significant use to the development of sustainable approaches in environmental protection efforts. However, production challenges currently pose a barrier to the large-scale commercialization of microbe-derived products. Bioprospecting of Microbial Resources for Agriculture, Environment and Bio-Chemical Industry is a much-needed review of the current achievements and emerging challenges facing the field of microbe-derived compound production. It covers established knowledge while also proposing solutions to various limitations, and introducing the application of microbe-based products in pollution control and the development of greener technologies. As the preservation of global biodiversity and the production of novel antibiotics are both of significant importance to researchers and the general public alike, this text offers a timely and comprehensive look into the many uses of microbial products across industries. Specific uses covered in the text include the microbial-based recovery of metals for e-waste, the use of microbial nanowires in bioenergy applications, and omics-based technologies in bioprospecting.Through a comprehensive investigation into the current and emerging research on microbial bioprospecting, this text will expand possibilities for the application of microbial resources nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, biomedical and bioenergetic fields. It offers valuable insights for administrators, policy makers, and consultants. It is also a helpful guide for researchers and students in the areas of microbiology, microbial prospecting, food and plant biotechnology, industrial microbiology, biochemical engineering and environmental science.
