The long historical novel, Spartacus, a representative of the Italy writer Giovagnoli, is based on the true events of the largest slave uprising launched in first Century BC in Rome featuring slave owner despotism. Using the combination of realism and romanticism, the book eulogized the heroic feat and noble character of the slaves and gladiators for the struggle for liberation, successfully portrayed the image of the leader of the slave uprising, Spartacus, and revealed the shameless and inhumane evil acts of the slave owner aristocrats.
