This book brings together Latinx scholars in Rhetoric and Composition to discuss keywords that have been misused or appropriated by forces working against the interests of minority students. For example, in educational and political forums, rhetorics of identity and civil rights have been used to justify ideas and policies that reaffirm the myth of a normative US culture that is white, Eurocentric, and monolinguistically English. Such attempts amount to a project of neo-colonization, if we understand colonization to mean not only the taking of land but also the taking of culture, of which language is a crucial part. The editors introduce the concept of epistemic delinking and argue for its use in conceptualizing a kind of rhetorical and discursive decolonization, and contributors offer examples of this decolonization in action through detailed work on specific terms. Specifically, they draw on their training in rhetoric and on their own experiences as people of color tohelp reset the field's agenda. They also theorize new keywords to shed light on the great varieties of Latinx writing, rhetoric, and literacies that continue to emerge and circulate in the culture at large, in the hope that the field will feel more urgently the need to recognize, theorize, and teach the intersections of writing, pedagogy, and politics.

Slow Philosophy no es solo un libro teórico que explica un nuevo estilo de vida, sino que va un paso más allá y nos ofrece una manera distinta de ver las cosas, permitiéndonos así apreciar detalles que siempre habíamos pasado por alto pero que tienen y tendrán un enorme impacto tanto en nosotros como en aquellos que nos rodean. Antes o después, todos pasamos por un punto en la vida en el que nos damos cuenta de que estamos inmersos en una espiral, que nosotros mismos hemos creado, de la cual no podemos salir. De nada vale intentar cambiar algo que llevamos años, o incluso generaciones, haciendo, sin antes saber de dónde venimos, dónde estamos y hacia dónde queremos orientar nuestra vida y la de los nuestros. Slow Philosophy nos muestra cómo aprovechar el conocimiento y la sabiduría de nuestros antepasados y complementarlo con los avances de los que disponemos actualmente, para de este modo llegar a darnos cuenta de lo que realmente somos y queremos. The purpose of this book is to illustrate the fundamental concepts of complexity and complex behavior and the best methods to characterize this behavior by means of their applications to some current research topics from within the fields of fusion, earth and solar plasmas. In this sense, it is a departure from the many books already available that discuss general features of complexity. The book is divided in two parts. In the first part the most important properties and features of complex systems are introduced, discussed and illustrated. The second part discusses several instances of possible complex phenomena in magnetized plasmas and some of the analysis tools that were introduced in the first part are used to characterize the dynamics in these systems. A list of problems is proposed at the end of each chapter.This book is intended for graduate and post-graduate students with a solid college background in mathematics and classical physics, who intend to work in the field of plasma physics and, in particular, plasma turbulence. It will also be of interest to senior scientists who have so far approached these systems and problems from a different perspective and want a new fresh angle.

Offers an extended critique of key assumptions in composition theory and a new paradigm for thinking about writing in an increasingly globalized and textualized world.How can theory improve our knowledge of writing? Raúl Sánchez answers this question by examining dominant theoretical trends in composition studies over the last fifteen years, citing their common origins in a narrow, representational metatheory of writing. He argues that this adherence actually leads the field away from its objects of study: writing and the writing subject. Through this extended critique, he elaborates an alternative metatheory, one that restores writing to the conceptual center of composition studies by emphasizing its generative-rather than its representational-characteristics, particularly in increasingly networked and textualized cultures.
