This broad-based study of Western-Asian relations considers images of and actions by the United States, along with Britain and Germany, in the course of dealings with Asian nations such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Other case studies focus on inter-Asian relations between Japan and Korea; China and Japan; and Thailand and Vietnam. The essays encompass a wide range of recent scholarship, including cultural, economic, demographic, and intellectual approaches to military and diplomatic themes.Western influence, primarily American, in Asia grew consistently during the 20th century. While interaction often occurred on unequal terms, this study reveals the ability of Asians to assert their agency in the face of such immense Western power. The collection as a whole offers a window on relations across the Pacific in numerous spheres of activity over the course of one hundred years. Richard Jensen offers a new interpretation of the last 180 years of American political history--one seen from the grass roots perspective. He is concerned with the individual voter's relationship to the party, the issues, and the campaigns. He explores the evolution of American political parties in terms of their appeal to individual voters, of the issues selected, and campaign strategies. He examines different voter coalitions that formed and dissolved during the past 175 years and explains the dynamics of group affiliation with one or the other party. He demonstrates how the electorate has modernized over time and assesses the issues raised, and the values challenged by the process of political modernization. Jensen offers his own theory of campaign strategy, sketching its evolution from army-like organization to modern advertising. Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Politik - Klima- und Umweltpolitik, Note: 1,7, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universitat Hannover (Institut fur Politikwissenschaft), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wissenschaftler sind sich einig: Der Klimawandel ist real und muss zum Wohle der Umwelt gestoppt werden. Was jedoch wird durch die Politik unternommen, um diesen zu stoppen oder zumindest zu verlangsamen? Eine entscheidende Rolle spielt dabei der Umstieg von fossiler Energieerzeugung zu der Nutzung von erneuerbaren Energieformen. Um den Gebrauch dieser Energie voranzubringen, hat das am ersten April 2000 in Kraft getretene Erneuerbare-Energie-Gesetz (EEG) einen bedeutsamen Schritt geleistet. Im Groben soll es den Ausbau von Anlagen, die Strom auf Basis erneuerbarer Energien produzieren und ins offentliche Netz einspeisen, fordern. Mithilfe der im Gesetz enthaltenen EEG-Umlagebestimmung sollen die Anlagen, die Energie aus erneuerbaren Quellen fordern und dem offentlichen Netz zur Verfugung stellen, mit einem Geldbetrag vergutet werden. Dadurch sollen fossile Ressourcen, die der Energiegewinnung dienen, geschont und die Nachhaltigkeit gefordert werden. Unter naherer Betrachtung der Regierungen, vor Beschluss des EEG ist jedoch zu erkennen, dass die Regierungskoalition bestehend aus CDU/CSU und FDP, die nicht den Fokus auf Umweltschutzma nahmen legte, mehr als 10 Jahre an der Macht war. Wie kam demzufolge das EEG im Jahr 2000 nach dem Regierungswechsel der SPD und Bundnis90/Die Grunen zustande? Diese Untersuchung wird unter besonderer Betrachtung der Bundnis90/Die Grunen durchgefuhrt. Die Relevanz dieser Fragestellung erweist sich auch daran, dass zukunftige Prozesse, die in ahnlicher Konstellationstattfinden, unter Einbeziehung der hier getroffenen Ergebnisse erklart werden konnen. Diese Frage soll anhand des Multiple Streams Ansatz (MSA) von Kingdon erortert werden. Daher wird der Ansatz im 2. Kapitel vorgestellt. Nach der Vorstellung der Theorie folgt im 3. Kapitel die Erlauterung der Methodik. Es wird beschrieben, welche Literatur vorrangig genutzt und wie diese recherchiert wird. Im Anschluss daran folgt im 4. Kapitel der Hauptteil, in dem die Thematik der Fragestellung in Bezug zu dem MSA gesetzt und sich damit auseinandergesetzt wird, ob die gestellte These belegbar ist. Im 5. Kapitel wird ein knappes Fazit gezogen, das die erhobenen Ergebnissezusammenfasst und diese auf die Fragestellung und These reflektiert.
