Roberto Giacobazzi - Böcker

This Festschrift, dedicated to Manuel Hermenegildo on the occasion of his 60th birthday, contains papers written by many of his closest collaborators. Manuel received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and among various positions he was an endowed chair in Information Science and Technology at the University of New Mexico. In 2007 he became the founding director of the IMDEA Software Institute, where he is now a Distinguished Professor, while also a full professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).He has published more than 300 scientific publications, given numerous keynotes and invited talks at major conferences, coordinated many national and international projects, and served the community in major conference roles, on journal boards, and on funding, scientific, and research committees. Among his awards are the Julio Rey Pastor prize in Mathematics and Information Science and Technologyand the Aritmel prize in Computer Science; he is an elected member of the Academia Europaea; and in 2022 he was elected a Fellow of the ACM for contributions to program analysis, verification, parallelism, logic programming, and the IMDEA Software Institute.Throughout his career, Manuel has been at the forefront of the fields of logic programming, constraint programming, parallel programming, program analysis, program transformation, and programming environment design. The contributions in this volume reflect the quality and the scope of his personal and collaborative successes.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 31st International Static Analysis Symposium, SAS 2024, held in Pasadena, CA, USA, in October 2024. Static analysis is widely recognized as a fundamental tool for program verification, bug detection, compiler optimization, program understanding, and software maintenance.

Static analysis is a research area aimed at developing principles and tools for veri?cation, certi?cation, semantics-based manipulation, and high-performance implementation of programming languages and systems. The series of Static Analysis symposia has served as the primary venue for presentation and disc- sion of theoretical, practical, and application advances in the area. This volume contains the papers accepted for presentation at the 11th Int- nationalStaticAnalysisSymposium(SAS2004),whichwasheldAugust26-28in Verona,Italy.Inresponse to the callfor papers,63contributions weresubmitted from 20 di?erent countries. Following on-line discussions, the ProgramComm- tee met in Verona on May 06, and selected 23 papers, basing this choice on their scienti?c quality, originality, and relevance to the symposium. Each paper was reviewed by at least 3 PC members or external referees.In addition to the contributed papers, this volume includes contributions by outstanding invited speakers: a full invited paper by Thomas Henzinger (University of Califorina at Berkeley), and abstracts of the talks given by the other invited speakers, Sheila McIlraith (University of Toronto), Ehud Shapiro (Weizmann Institute) and Yannis Smaragdakis (Georgia Institute of Technology).
