The 1970s are of particular relevance for understanding the socio-economic changes still shaping Western societies today. The collapse of traditional manufacturing industries like coal and steel, shipbuilding, and printing, as well as the rise of the service sector, contributed to a notable sense of decline and radical transformation.Building on the seminal work of Lutz Raphael and Anselm Doering-Manteuffel, Nach dem Boom, which identified a "social transformation of revolutionary quality" that ushered in "digital financial capitalism," this volume features a series of essays that reconsider the idea of a structural break in the 1970s. Contributors draw on case studies from France, the Netherlands, the UK, the US, and Germany to examine the validity of the "after the boom" hypothesis. Since the Boom attempts to bridge the gap between the English and highly productive German debates on the 1970s.

Drei jüdische Aktivisten spielten im Umfeld des Pariser Mai eine wichtige Rolle: Daniel Cohn-Bendit, der als Person das Ereignis symbolisiert, Pierre Goldman, der bis zu seiner Ermordung im Jahr 1979 die Ikone der radikalen Linken war, und André Glucksmann, vormals der maoistischen Strömung zugeneigt, der Mitte der 1970er Jahre die antitotalitäre Denkrichtung der »Neuen Philosophen« mitbegründete. Sebastian Voigt zeichnet die Lebenswege dieser drei Protagonisten der radikalen Linken im Nachkriegsfrankreich nach und rückt ihre politischen Biografien in einen gedächtnisgeschichtlichen Zusammenhang. Hierzu öffnet er den Blick zurück auf die Elterngeneration und nimmt deren in der Zwischenkriegszeit liegende Erfahrungsgeschichte in den Fokus. Eine solche Rückschau in die Vorgeschichte führt von Frankreich aus in die Lebenswelten der als Immigranten und Flüchtlinge aus Deutschland, Polen und dem Habsburgerreich kommenden Juden. Kommunismus, Zionismus und antifaschistisches Engagement der Elterngeneration bilden dabei ebenso wie der bewaffnete Widerstand gegen die deutsche Besatzung die gedächtnispolitische Folie, vor der die Ereignisse des Mai ''68 in neuem Licht erscheinen.

Culture is a product of the core values and business principles that executives espouse, the standards of what is ethically acceptable and what is not, the work practices and behaviours that define "e;how we do things around here"e;, its approach to people management and style of operating, the "e;chemistry"e; and the "e;personality"e; that permeates its work environment, and the stories that get told over and over to illustrate and reinforce the company's values, business principles, and traditions. A company s culture is important because it influences the organization s actions and approaches to conduct the business in a very real sense, the culture is the company s operating system or organizational DNA. All in all, culture as a concept is difficult to define and differs from company to company. The crafting of a strategy represents a managerial commitment to pursue a particular set of actions in growing the business, attracting and pleasing customers, competing successfully, conducting operations, and improving the company s financial and market performance. Even companies with same strategic and business concepts and comparable success differ in their approaches regarding the corporate culture. What becomes clear is that there is a correlation between culture and strategy. Hence the consistency between strategy and culture is a long-term competitive advantage and a key to corporate success. To counteract preventive a possible misfit between the corporate culture and the strategy, consideration of corporate culture as part of the concept to strategy implementation is essential.

The unifying thread of the interdisciplinary volume Jewish and Non-Jewish Spaces in the Urban Context is the fact that Jewish spaces are almost always generated in relation to non-Jewish spaces; they determine and influence each other.This general phenomenon will be scrutinized and put to the test again and again in a varied collection of articles by international experienced researchers as well as junior scholars using various urban contexts and discourses as data. From the viewpoints of different temporal and regional research traditions and disciplines the contributors deal with the question of how Jewish and non-Jewish spaces are imagined, constructed, negotiated and intertwined. All examples and case studies together create a mosaic of possibilities for the construction of Jewish and non-Jewish spaces in different settings.The list of examined topics ranges from synagogues to ghettos, from urban neighborhoods to cafés and festivals, from art to literature. This diversity makes the volume a challenging effort of giving an overview of the current academic discussion in Europe and beyond. Although the majority of the contributions are focused on Central and Eastern Europe, a more general tendency becomes apparent in all articles: the negotiation of urban spaces seems to be a complex and ambivalent process in which a large number of participants are involved. In this regard, the volume would also like to contribute to trans-disciplinary urban studies and critical research on spatial relations.
