This book contains the proceedings of two long-running events held along with the CAiSE conference relating to the areas of enterprise, business-process and information systems modeling: 

* the 21st International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2020, and * the 25th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Development, EMMSAD 2020.

The conferences were planned to take place in Grenoble, France, during June 8–9, 2020. They were held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For BPMDS 13 full papers and 1 short paper were carefully reviewed and selected for publication from a total of 30 submissions; for EMMSAD 11 full papers and 4 short papers were accepted from 29 submissions.

The papers were organized in topical sections named as follows:

BPMDS: Business process execution and monitoring, BPM applications in industry and practice, planning and scheduling in business processes, process mining, process models and visualizations

EMMSAD: Requirements and method engineering, enterprise and business modeling, software-related modeling, domain-specific modeling, evaluation-related research.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Sciences, RCIS 2021, which was planned to take place in Limassol, Cyprus, but had to change to an online event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference took place virtually during May 11-14, 2021. It focused on the special theme "Information Science and Global Crisis".

The scope of RCIS is summarized by the thematic areas of information systems and their engineering; user-oriented approaches; data and information management; business process management; domain-specific information systems engineering; data science; information infrastructures, and reflective research and practice.

The 29 full papers and 6 work-in-progress papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 99 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: Business and Industrial Processes, Information Security and Risk Management, Data and Information Management, Domain-specific Information Systems Engineering, User-Centered Approaches, Data Science and Decision Support, and Information Systems and Their Engineering. The volume also contains 13 poster and demo papers, and 4 doctoral consortium papers. In addition, two-page summaries of tutorials and research project papers can be found in the back matter.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the CAiSE Forum 2021 which was held as part of the 33rd International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2021, in June 2021. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 18 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this book.

* the 22nd International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2021, and * the 26th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Development, EMMSAD 2021.

For BPMDS 7 full papers and 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected for publication from a total of 18 submissions; for EMMSAD 11 full papers and 3 short papers were accepted from 30 submissions after thorough reviews.

The papers were organized in topical sections as follows:

BPMDS: Actual and perceived challenges; business process modeling; understanding collaboration: one issue, many perspectives; and event logs – why it derivates;

EMMSAD: Foundations of modeling and method engineering; enterprise, business process, and capability modeling; information systems and requirements modeling; domain-specific and knowledge modeling; and evaluation of modeling approaches.

The scope of RCIS is summarized by the thematic areas of information systems and their engineering; user-oriented approaches; data and information management; business process management; domain-specific information systems engineering; data science; information infrastructures, and reflective research and practice.

The 28 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 87 submissions. The book also includes 15 Forum papers and 6 Doctoral Consortium papers. The contributions were organized in topical sections named: Requirements; conceptual modeling and ontologies; machine learning and analytics; conceptual modeling and semantic networks; business process design and computing in the continuum; requirements and evaluation; monitoring and recommending; business process analysis and improvement; user interface and experience; forum papers; doctoral consortium papers. Two-page abstracts of the tutorials can be found in the back matter of the volume.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the CAiSE 2025 Forum and Doctoral Consortium, held as part of the 37th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2025, during June 2025. This year the conference took place under the theme "Bridging Silos". 

The CAiSE Forum is a place for presenting and discussing new ideas and tools related to information systems engineering. Intended to serve as an interactive platform, the Forum aims at the presentation of emerging new topics and controversial positions, as well as demonstration of innovative systems, tools and applications. It received 23 submissions of which 11 have been accepted; 15 submissions were invited from the CAISE main research track. The overall 26 papers include 20 vision and 6 tool demonstration papers. 

The Doctoral Consortium aims to attract PhD candidates working on foundations, techniques, tools, and applications in the Information Systems Engineering field. The Doctoral Consortium received a total of 27 submissions of which 12 were accepted for presentation. 

This book contains the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2015, and the 20th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Design, EMMSAD 2015, held together with the 27th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2015) in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 2015.

The 17 full papers accepted for BPMDS were selected from 43 submissions and cover a wide spectrum of issues related to business process development, modeling, and support. They are grouped into topical sections on enabling value creation, human-centric paradigms, mining for processes, declarative approaches, understanding and sharing, quality and security issues, and new areas for BPMDS.

The 12 full and three short papers accepted for EMMSAD were chosen from 33 submissions and focus on exploring, evaluating, and enhancing modeling methods and methodologies for the analysis and design of information systems, enterprises, and business processes. They are grouped into topical sections on fundamental issues in modeling, requirements and regulations, enterprise and software ecosystem modeling, information and process model quality, meta-modeling and domain-specific modeling and model composition, modeling of architecture and design, and novel applications of modeling.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the CAiSE Forum from the 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2014, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, June 2014.

The CAiSE 2014 Forum was a place to present and discuss new ideas, emerging topics, and controversial positions, and to demonstrate innovative tools and systems related to information systems engineering. To this end, three types of submissions were invited: visionary papers presenting innovative research projects at an early stage, demo papers describing novel tools and prototypes; and case studies reporting industrial applications. The 17 papers in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 45 submissions and include 12 visionary papers, four demo papers, and one case study. The reworked and extended versions of the original presentations cover topics such as business process management, process mining, enterprise architecture and modeling, model-driven development, and requirements engineering.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 28th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering, CAiSE 2016, held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in June 2016.

The 35 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 211 submissions. 

The program included the following paper sessions: 

Collaboration, Business Process Modeling. Innovation, Gamication, Mining and Business Process Performance, Requirements Engineering, Process Mining, Conceptual Modeling, Mining and Decision Support, Cloud and Services, Variability and Configuration, Open Source Software, and Business Process Management.

This book constitutes the proceedings of two events held in conjunction with the CAiSE conferences and related to the areas of enterprise, business-process and information systems modeling: the 18th International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support, BPMDS 2017, and the 22nd International Conference on Evaluation and Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Development, EMMSAD, 2017. They took place in Essen, Germany, in June 2017. The focus theme for BPMDS 2017 papers was “Enabling Business Transformation by Business Process Modeling, Development and Support". From 24 submitted papers, 11 were finally accepted and organized by: Non-functional considerations in business processes; new challenges in business process modeling and support; testing business processes; business process model comprehension; an experience report on teaching business process modeling. The EMMSAD conference focuses on evaluating, exploring and enhancing modeling methods and techniques for the development of information and software systems, enterprises, and business processes. It received 25 submissions, from which 9 full and 2 short papers were selected and organized: evaluation and comparison of modeling languages and methods; modeling approaches to support decision making; behavioral specification and business process modeling; and modeling languages and methods in evolving context. 

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research, BIR 2018, held in Stockholm, Sweden, in September 2018. This year’s conference theme was “Business Resilience – Organizational and Information System Resilience in Congruence”.

The 17 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. The papers were organized in topical sections named: business, people and system resilience; resilient collaboration; digital transformation; information technology management; enterprise systems and data analytics; and business and information systems development.
