This book supports companies in the transport sector, political decision-makers, transport engineers, planners and scientists doing fundamental research who are confronted by growing challenges in transport. These challenges arise from a number of powerful socio-technical trends, including: digitalisation, globalisation, urbanisation, and the requirements of individual users and the increased need to reduce environmental impact of transport. Providing the innovations required to cope with these challenges is not a simple matter.Towards Innovative Transport Systems structures and compiles theoretical foundations from evolutionary economics, the sociology of technology and innovation research in a way that provides a broad understanding of innovation processes without demanding prior knowledge. Using the Concept of Transport System Evolution (CTSE), it explains in depth the economics of innovation in the transport sector, thus contextualising processes, drivers and obstacles at work in current practice; among such processes are the changeover to electric mobility, the realization of autonomous cars, the revival of railway by innovations and dealing with disruptive innovations in transport. The CTSE is an approach to making concrete the multi-level perspective for the transport sector introduced by Frank Geels. On the basis of the CTSE, the author proposes principles for a novel innovation policy in transport that can serve the reader as a guide when making strategic decisions.

The series publishes studies and sources on the history of the German language and literature from the beginnings of the tradition in the 8th century to more recent linguistic history. Mit dem im Kloster Admont neu aufgefundenen Fragment des ‚Abrogans‘ wird die Geschichte des ältesten deutschen Buches um ein faszinierendes Kapitel der Arbeit an der deutschen Sprache aus der Zeit Karls des Großen bereichert. Der am Anfang des 9. Jahrhunderts geschriebene ‚Admonter Abrogans‘ alphabetisiert den Wortbestand eines lateinisch-deutschen Lexikons vollständig, modernisiert ihn sprachlich, bewahrt aber auch wichtige Eigenheiten des verlorenen Archetyps. Die Spuren, die sich durch die Untersuchungen des Fragments für seine Herkunft ergeben, führen in den Grenzbereich zwischen fränkischem und alemannischem Sprachgebiet und belegen, dass die produktive Weiterarbeit am ‚Abrogans‘ schon früh zum Kern der Überlieferung gehört und nicht als sekundäres Zeugnis zu verstehen ist. Die kommentierte Edition und die philologische Einordnung des Fragments werden begleitet von Einzelstudien sowie einer paläographischen Untersuchung, die die gesamte Überlieferung des ‚Abrogans‘ mit einbezieht.

Around half of the world''s refugees are children, yet their rights and special supporting and protection needs as children are frequently neglected. The human rights violations that force children to flee from their homes are only a part of the hardships for many child refugees. Even after travelling across an international border to seek refuge, they remain vulnerable to hazardous labour exploitation, denial of education, physical abuse, routine detention, sexual abuse, cross-border attacks, militarization of refugee camps, and recruitment as soldiers. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the circumstances of refugee children, the UN-Convention on the Rights of the Child and describe the asylum-juridical contact with refugee children in the Federal Republic of Germany and above all examine, whether and to which extent this contact is contradictory to the central concern of the UN-Convention on the Rights of the Child.B) The circumstances of refugee children Adolescent- and child refugees are differentiated into accompanied and unaccompanied. Accompanied are those who flee with their parents and siblings, members of their family or other important bonding figures and role models. It is assumed that currently around 100,000 unaccompanied minors exist as refugees in Europe. Children and adolescents are the most vulnerable and in need of support and protection. When children are removed from their normal cultural, economical and social environment, it may generate serious psychological problems such as a disruption of the emotional development and a profound sense of disorientation due to loss of role models like parents and relatives.(...)

Die meisten Professoren sind bereit so ein Empfehlungsschreiben zu unterzeichnen, allerdings haben sie oft wenig Lust, dieses selbst zu verfassen. Ich denke, dass dieses Muster euch einige Arbeit ersparen kann.

Master''s Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Politics - Topic: Peace and Conflict, Security, grade: 2,4, Stellenbosch Universitiy, language: English, abstract: The status, Prisoner of War reveals many issues. This paper examines the meaning of the term Prisoner of War (POW) and discusses the topic with a focus on the US State practice. In particular the treatment of the prisoners, who have been captured in the context of the Afghanistan War and the fight against terrorism, is taken into account. Under this section also the quandary of an adequate and justifiable classification of the different categories of prisoners is discussed. In this context also the terms "unlawful combatant” and "war on terror” are addressed. In addition the relation between Humanitarian Law, Human Rights and Domestic Law is considered and brought into relation with decisions of the US Courts. Additionally the issue of criminal liability under Domestic and International law is raised. The paper concludes with a summary of the findings and an appraisal of the results followed by a perspective to future developments.
