This text tackles some of the issues facing practitioners and researchers in the field of management of technology. Special attention is given to the challenges facing nations and companies at the dawn of a new millennium where technology is expected to dominate every aspect of human endeavour. The papers were selected from those presented at the 9th International Conference on Management of Technology held in Miami, Florida in February 2000. This book is derived from the 13th Annual International Conference on Management of Technology (IAMOT) held in Washington DC, April 2004. Back pain is a leading cause of suffering, high medical costs, andloss of productivity in the workplace. Through a multidisciplinaryapproach, this book addresses the widespread problem ofmusculoskeletal injuries in general and lower back injury inparticular. It presents the principles of ergonomics andbioengineering and their application to the prevention andrehabilitation of lower back injuries. Special attention is givento ergonomic methodologies such as human performance analysis andfunctional capacity assessment.
