APTS Press is privileged to offer this festschrift honoring Dr. Kay Fountain, who for more than twenty years has served the Lord at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS), in Baguio City, Philippines, first as a student, then as a faculty member and finally as the Academic Dean. Our hope is that this book will reflect her passion for teaching and understanding the Old Testament, which has instilled in her students that kind of passion for the ministry as well. This book is called a festschrift--meaning a book of essays written to honor those who have served the academic community well over a long period of time. Drs Wonsuk and Julie Ma, the honorees in this book, served as faculty members, Journal pioneers and editors and academic dean (Wonsuk) at the Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (www.apts.edu) for twenty-four years, 1983-2006. In 2006, Wonsuk accepted an invitation to become the Executive Director of the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies in the United Kingdom and Julie accepted an invitation to become a research mentor at the same institution. The theme selected for this book: A Theology of the Spirit in Doctrine and Demonstration reflects the heart of the kind of people the Mas have been and continue to be in academics, practical ministry and, most importantly, in their personal lives. This book reflects the author's work over eight years as amissionary in Bangladesh, where she was involved withthe United Bible Society and the Bangladesh Bible Society, then the Bangladesh Lutheran Church-Danish Mission and the Bangladesh Lutheran Church, despite the fact that Tess herself was a Pentecostal, in teaching literacy to the Bangladeshi people. This volume looks at mission formation for all Christians and missionary formation for mission workers, agencies and churches in a changing situation of mission. The focus is on educating the whole people of God. Here is the reason for the title of this volume: Reflecting on and Equipping for Christian Mission. Theological education in the broad sense participates in the task of equipping people for God’s mission in today’s world. At the same time we affirm that all theological education is contextual and that no particular context should exercise dominant influence.
