Aggressives Verhalten junger Menschen, das bis zu Auseinandersetzungen mit Todes­ folge führen kann, schockiert die Öffentlichkeit in Deutschland. Handelt es sich dabei um eine ernsthafte Bedrohung der bundesdeutschen Gesellschaft ? Diese Frage wird auch unter Experten lebhaft diskutiert. Das Meinungsspektrum zu dieser Thematik reicht von beruhigenden Äußerungen (z. B. "Auch früher haben Jugendliche unterein­ ander gerauft; man reagiert heute sensibler auf dramatische Einzelerscheinungen, die es immer schon gegeben hat") bis zu regelrechten Horrorprognosen. Ausgehend von der diagnostischen Erfaßbarkeit aggressiven Verhaltens und entsprechender Dispositio­ nen, haben wir uns in das Gesamtgebiet der Gewaltbereitschaft eingearbeitet, um zunächst für die eigene wissenschaftliche Projektarbeit auf einen ausreichenden Fundus an Hintergrundwissen rekurrieren zu können. Das Ergebnis dieser Bemühungen liegt mit diesem Band vor. Wie der Titel desselben erkennen läßt, wollten wir uns auf deutsche Verhältnisse beschränken. Die Lage in anderen Ländern wird nur am Rande berührt, soweit dies im Vergleich mit der Bundesrepublik sinnvoll erschien. Aufgrund dieser Zielsetzung verwendeten wir auch überwiegend deutschsprachige Fachliteratur, dies jedoch umso ausführlicher. Es zeigte sich, daß ein Überblick hierzu bereits einen erheblichen Arbeitsaufwand erfordert. Man kann uns dennoch vorhalten, daß fremd­ sprachige - vor allem angloamerikanische - Publikationen ganz in den Hintergrund treten.
