'Everyone with new ideas is thought mad until they work' Marcelo BielsaMarcelo Bielsa is one of the great enigmas of world football. To Pep Guardiola, he is the finest mind in the game, a fabulously innovative and obsessive coach who transformed Leeds United, Marseille and Athletic Bilbao after winning three league titles in his native Argentina.Yet Bielsa is a manager who has won very much less than his reputation suggests. He lasted two days at Lazio and led Argentina to their greatest footballing disaster.Featuring interviews from across South America, Europe and Yorkshire, The Quality of Madness is a comprehensive and compelling biography tracing Bielsa's story from growing up as a member of one of Argentina's most remarkable families to his revival of Leeds and his comeback with Uruguay at the Copa América.Bielsa has long been known as 'El Loco' - 'The Madman' - and yet, as Tim Rich's revelatory study shows, there is mercurial method and audacious logic to the madness.

'Emotional, insightful, beautifully written. A story of making saves and being saved. The best football book I have read this year.' Henry WinterSir Alex Ferguson looked at Joe Sealey: 'You know your dad saved my career?' Joe replied: 'And you saved his.'More than three decades before, in 1990, Ferguson's managerial career stood at its lowest ebb. After three barren years at Old Trafford, he was facing dismissal. There was just the FA Cup final left. Manchester United were lucky to escape with a 3-3 draw at Wembley. For the replay, Ferguson took the gamble of his life, replacing his long-standing keeper, Jim Leighton, with Les Sealey, on loan from Luton. United won. Ferguson remained, winning another 24 major trophies.Les Sealey would play in another three finals for United. When he died suddenly, aged 43, Les left behind a warm, witty, and detailed autobiography in the form of a Tupperware box full of cassette tapes. His death, however, threw his son, Joe, into a tormented spiral of alcoholism and drug abuse before he was dragged from the brink. On Days Like These, longlisted for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year, is the story of a remarkable double rescue. Of a football club and of a man.'Brings alive early 90s #MUFC & the mad genius of Ferguson' Sam Wallace

Brian Horton is one of the most respected managers in English football. As a player, manager and assistant, he took part in over 2,000 games - in Britain only Sir Alex Ferguson can claim more. Horton's career started in the World Cup summer of 1966 and ended over half a century later. His playing career began unceremoniously when Port Vale bought him from non-league Hednesford for the price of a pint of shandy. But later, as Brighton captain, he became a club legend, skippering the Seagulls from the Third to the First Division. He continued this success at Luton and Hull, before managing the Yorkshire side. Horton further distinguished himself as boss at Oxford and then Manchester City, keeping the Citizens in the Premier League for two thrilling seasons. Spells at Huddersfield, Brighton, Port Vale and Macclesfield followed before Brian was catapulted back to the Premier League at Hull City as assistant manager to Phil Brown. He continued to work with Brown at Preston, Southend and Swindon until his retirement in 2018.

If I Can Dream is a richly detailed biography of English footballing icon Terry Venables, telling the story of his playing career, managerial successes (and failures) and fascinating life away from the pitch. If there was a year when English football exploded into the public consciousness it was 1996. It was the summer when the phrase "Football's coming home" echoed from car radios, when Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne orchestrated England's campaign in the European Championship that captivated a nation. At the centre of it all was Terry Venables, managing England in what, remarkably, was his only international tournament. He was not the most successful man to manage England, but he was unquestionably the most interesting. As a manager and coach, he was startlingly successful. He was 39 when he took Queens Park Rangers to an FA Cup final, 43 when he steered Barcelona to their first La Liga title in a dozen years. An estimated one million people cam on to the city's streets to welcome the team home from the airport. The tributes on his death in 2023 spoke of a man of enormous achievements who might have achieved very much more.In this World Cup summer, with the 30th anniversary of Euro 96, interest in that team and the man at its centre will peak once more.If I Can Dream will feature interviews with every available major figure in Terry Venables’s life.
