Featuring 73 sharp, new images obtained with state-of-the-art scanning technology, the Second Edition of this popular pocket atlas is a quick, handy guide to interpreting computed tomography images of the brain and calvarium, temporal bone, orbit, nasal cavity, and paranasal sinuses. The book helps readers recognize normal anatomic structures on CT scans and distinguish these structures from artifacts. Each page presents a high-resolution CT scan, with anatomic landmarks clearly labeled. Directly above the scan are a key to the labels and a thumbnail illustration that orients the reader to the plane of view (sagittal, axial, or coronal). This format enables readers to identify features rapidly and accurately. Praise for the previous edition: "[A] splendid, very pocket-sized atlas....[A] very useful basic booklet which will enlighten all clinical trainees and not a few of their mentors."-- Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry "A very useful and uncomplicated pocket-sized reference....This little atlas will be popular among residents in neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology, and internal medicine, and all clinicians who are required to inspect CTs of the head."-- Neurology "The book is most useful for medical students and neophyte radiology, neurology, or neurosurgical residents....Recommended!-- American Journal of Neuroradiology

Thomas Aquinas's work on the Trinity in his Summa Theologiae has since the 1900s been seen, along with Augustine's De Trinitate, as representative of a Latin trinitarian tradition. This tradition is assumed to begin with the one God, the one divine essence as a whole. Only afterwards does it see God as three in persons. Philosophical conerns - rather than the revelation of God in Christ - are assumed to be the basis for the discussion. According to many modern theologians the immanent life of God in this tradition is thereby separated from the rest of Christian faith and consequently, has no relevance for the believer. This book examines Thomas's trinitarian theology in light of this criticism. Thomas's account of the Trinity of Persons and the coherence of language about those Persons is not a rational demonstration but an expression of faith seeking understanding. The crucial faoundation for this is Thomas's theory of divine naming. The later chapters examine possible influences upon Thomas. Smith concludes that although Thomas is best understood when read in light of his own intellectual context, one cannot assume that every influence is positive.

The concept of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) has flourished in recent years and it seems that clinicians, more than ever, crave evidence from the medical literature to inform their clinical care decision making. While it is heartening that great volumes of evidence may exist, it is a daunting task to assimilate, critically review, prioritize, grade, and operationalize this crucial information. This volume of Otolaryngologic Clinics attempts to do just that. This book examines Evidence Based Practices on topics of critical importance to otolaryngologists-head and neck surgeons. The evidence has been gathered and is presented by leaders in their respective fields. Topics cover evidence-based practice of: Management of Vertigo, Management of Adult Sensory Neural Hearing Loss, Cochlear Implantation, Reflux in Sinusitus, Balloon Dilation in Otolaryngology, Postoperative Care in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Functional Rhinoplasty, Sublingual Immunotherapy for Allergic Rhinitis, Adult Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Pediatric Tonsillectomy, Management of Vocal Cord Paralysis, Management of Hoarseness, Endoscopic Skull Base Resection for Malignancy, Management of Glottic Cancer, Management of Thyroid Cancer, and Management of N0 Neck.

This is an important work, which should be read by anyone who is trying to understand nineteenth-century America. It will be of especial interest to students of church history, intellectual history, and social reform. Henry Lee Swint, 'Mississippi Valley Historical Review'This is a brilliant study, full of stimulating suggestions, rich bibliographical leads, and well-chosen quotations. A chief feature of the work, which won the Brewer prize for 1955, is its apt and extensive documentation. The author has industriously ranged through mountains of books, periodicals, and fugitive materials, and competently supported his well-written narrative with illuminating footnotes, which happily and helpfully appear where they belong at the foot of each - and almost every - page. Hence his judgments are backed by impressive scholarship. Robert T. Handy, 'Church History'So many historians have tracked the trail of the American revivalists that it is difficult for anyone to discover something new about that trail. Timothy Smith claimed to discover that they were more oriented towards social reform than their critics saw them to be. He backed up, with solid documentation, his claim that they were, in their own way, fathers of the Social Gospel. His book represented one of those rare moments in the study of American church history: the development of an original thesis, one worthy of the argument which it has during the past decade inspired and survived.
