th This volume presents the proceedings of the 9 IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Management of Multimedia and Mobile Networks and Services (MMNS 2006), th th which was held from October 25 to 27 as part of Manweek 2006 in Dublin,Ireland. In line with its reputation as one of the pre-eminent fora for the discussion anddebate of advances in management of multimedia networks and services, the 2006 iteration of MMNS brought together an international audience of researchers and practitioners from both industry and academia. One of the most signi?cant trends of recent years has been the development and considerable market penetration of multimedia-capable mobile handsets. Nevertheless, signi?cant research challenges remain in the area of management of mobile networks supporting multimedia services; challenges which must be addressed by the research community if the vision of ubiquitous availability of advanced multimedia services is to be realised. The MMNS Steering Committee, noting the growing interest within the research community on solving issues relating speci?cally to the transport of multimedia traf?c over various mobile access technologies, made the signi?cant decision to change the long name of the MMNS conference to re?ect this change in focus. For2006 and subsequent years, it will be called “Management of Multimedia and Mobile Networks and Services”.- E-bokPDF, Engelska, 2006

th This volume presents the proceedings of the 17 IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management (DSOM 2006), which was held rd th in Dublin, Ireland during October 23 to 25 , 2006. In line with its reputation as one of the pre-eminent fora for the discussion and debate of advances of distributed systems management, the 2006 iteration of DSOM brought together an international audience of researchers and practitioners from both industry and academia. th DSOM 2006 was the 17 in a series of annual workshops, and it followed the footsteps of highly successful previous meetings, the most recent of which were held in Barcelona, Spain (DSOM 2005), Davis, USA (DSOM 2004), Heidelberg, Germany (DSOM 2003), Montreal, Canada (DSOM 2002) and Nancy, France (DSOM 2001). The goal of the DSOM workshops is to bring together researchers in the areas of networks, systems and services management, from both industry and academia, to discuss recent advances and foster future growth in these ?elds. In contrast to the larger management symposia, such as Integrated Management (IM) and Network Operations and Management (NOMS), the DSOM workshops are organised as sing- track programmes in order to stimulate interaction among participants. On behalf of the IEEE Communications Society, the Technical Committee on Network Operations and Management (CNOM), the Manweek 2007 Organizing Committee, and the members of the IPOM Technical Program Committee, it is our pleasure to present the proceedings of the Seventh IEEE Workshop on IP Operations and Management (IPOM2007), held as part of Manweek 2007 during October 31-November 2, 2007. With the widespread deployment of IP-based networks, their operations and management have become increasingly important in terms of understanding emerging technical and scientific problems; lessons from such understanding are particularly important for future Internet design and management. Like the previous IPOM workshops, IPOM 2007 was co-located with several related events as part of the 3rd International Week on Management of Networks and Services (Manweek 2007). The other events were the 10th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Management of Multimedia and Mobile Networks and Services (MMNS 2007), the 18th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management (DSOM 2007), the 2ndIEEE International Workshop on Modeling Autonomic Communications Environments (MACE 2007), and the 1st IEEE/IFIP International Workshop on End-to-End Virtualization and Grid Management (EVGM 2007). Co-locating those events provided the opportunity for an exchange of ideas between research communities that work on related topics, allowing participants to forge links and exploit synergies. - E-bokPDF, Engelska, 2007

It is a great pleasure to present the proceedings of the 10th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Management of Multimedia and Mobile Networks and Services (MMNS 2007). The MMNS 2007 Conference was held in San Jose, California, USA during October 31 – November 2 as part of the 3rd International Week on Management of Networks and Services (Manweek 2007). As in the previous three years, the Manweek umbrella allowed an international audience of researchers and scientists from industry and academia – who are researching and developing management systems – to share views and ideas and present their state-of-the-art results. The other events co-located with Manweek 2007 were the 18th IFIP/IEEE International Workshop on Distributed Systems: Operations and Management (DSOM 2007), the 7th IEEE Workshop on IP Operations and Management (IPOM2007), the 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Modeling Autonomic Communications Environments (MACE 2007), and the 1st IEEE/IFIP International Workshop on End-to-End Virtualization and Grid Management (EVGM 2007). Under this umbrella, MMNS proved itself again as a top public venue for results dissemination and intellectual collaboration with specific emphasis on multimedia and mobility aspects of end-to-end services. These aspects of management are becoming a major challenge in the ability to deliver cost effective end-to-end multimedia-based services in the upcoming 4G wireless systems.- E-bokPDF, Engelska, 2007
