Der Band nimmt die sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Dimensionen der aktuellen Veränderungen im deutschen Krankenhauses in den soziologischen Blick. Betrachtet werden einerseits Transformationsprozesse auf der Ebene von Organisationen und Professionen, andererseits aber auch ihr Zusammenhang mit allgemeineren gesellschaftlichen und politischen Entwicklungen. Beleuchtet werden empirische Trends etwa in Bezug auf die Steuerung des Sektors oder die Veränderungen der Berufspraktiken, aber auch theoretische Perspektiven auf diese Trends und die ihnen zu Grunde liegenden Triebkräfte. Auf diese Weise lässt sich ein Gesamtbild jenes Mutationsprozesses zeichnen, den der Sektor gegenwärtig durchläuft.

Diese umfassende empirische Studie gibt grundlegende Einsichten in die Praxis des Krankenhausmanagements im Kontext der Ökonomisierung des Gesundheitswesens und leistet gleichzeitig einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Soziologie des Managements sowie der rekonstruktiven Management- bzw.

In den letzten 20 Jahren hat sich in der qualitativen und rekonstruktiven Sozialforschung vermehrt die Frage gestellt, wie sich polyphone, polykontexturale und in ihren Sinnbezügen mehrdeutige Verhältnisse erforschen lassen.

Auf Basis von Feldforschungen und Interviews in 6 forensischen Kliniken werden die Herausforderungen der Therapie und Resozialisierung im Maßregelvollzug untersucht. Es werden grundlegende Dilemmata der Therapie unter Zwang herausgearbeitet und typische Probleme und Chancen aufgezeigt, die mit Versuch der Normalisierung der Patienten einhergehen.

Sei es in der Quantenphysik, den Kognitionswissenschaften oder der Soziologie – die Problematik des Beobachters und die Einbeziehung von Nicht-Wissen und Unbestimmtheiten ist in verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Feldern nicht zuletzt aus empirischen Gründen entstanden.
