Innerhalb der Frühpädagogik ist das Themenfeld der "Übergänge" gegenwärtig von hoher Aktualität. Der Band beschäftigt sich mit der pädagogischen Gestaltung und Begleitung des ersten Übergangs von der Familie in eine Tageseinrichtung. Die aktuelle Diskussion zu den Erkenntnissen der Bildungsforschung und zu den Qualitäten der Tagesbetreuung werden vorgestellt. Speziell für den Übergang in die erste Einrichtung außerhalb der Familie wird das veränderte Bild vom Kind wichtig, das an seinen Stärken orientiert ist und somit das Bild der Abhängigkeit und Bedürftigkeit des jungen Kindes relativiert. Der Übergang in die Einrichtung wird dann nicht nur als Entwicklungsaufgabe des Kindes beschrieben, sonders als Prozess, der von allen Akteuren - dem Kind, seinen Eltern, den Fachkräften und der Kindergruppe - ko-konstruktiv gestaltet wird.
