Das Buch basiert auf einer Vorlesung, die sich mit ablauforganisatorischen Aspekten der Produktionsplanung beschäftigt. Es werden quantitative Methoden für die drei wesentlichen Teilgebiete Lagerhaltung/Losgrößenplanung, Fließbandabstimmung und Maschinenbelegungsplanung behandelt. Das vorliegende Buch soll als Grundlage für Vorlesungen in den Bereichen Produktionswirtschaft, Operations Research sowie angrenzender Fachgebiete der Betriebswirtschaftslehre, der Ingenieurwissenschaften und der Mathematik dienen. Dieser Lehrbuchcharakter findet Niederschlag in der ausführlichen Behandlung von grundlegenden Modellen und entsprechenden Lösungsmöglichkeiten. Aufgrund einer Vielzahl neuester Forschungsergebnisse ist das Werk als Handbuch für auf diesen Gebieten tätige Wissenschaftler und Praktiker geeignet.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 1997 International Symposium on Operations Research (SOR' 97) held at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universitat Jena, Sep- tember 3-5, 1997. The symposium was organized under the auspices of the two German societies on Operations Research, namely the Deutsche Gesellschajt fur Operations Research (DGOR) and the Gesellschajt fur Mathematik, Okonomie und Operations Research (GMOOR). During their annual business meetings, the DGOR and GMOOR members unanimously decided that their societies should be assimi- lated by the newly founded Gesellschajt fur Operations Research (GOR). The SOR' 97 meeting was attended by 521 participants from 31 countries. The presentation of 360 papers was organized in 16 sections, each of which also saw semiplenary lectures by prominent invited speakers. Plenary lectures by J.K. Lenstra and P. Mertens as well as a panel discussion on the role of new communication media represented major academic events of the symposium. 131 papers were submitted for publication in the present volume. The space limitation and the advice of the section chairpersons only allowed for the inclusion of 85 contributed papers in the proceedings.Additionally, written versions of seven semiplenary lectures could be included in the volume. This volume contains a selection of manuscripts referring to lectures presented at the Symposium on Operations Research 1999 (SOR'99) held at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Sep- tember 1 -3, 1999. This international conference took place under the auspices of the German OR society (GOR), and it was the first one organized in Germany since the foundation of GOR by merger of the two predecessor societies (DGOR and GMOOR) in 1998. The Symposium had 420 participants from 22 countries around the world. It attracted academicians and practitioners working in various fields of Operations Research and provided them with the most recent developments and advances in the full spectrum of Operations Research and related areas in economics, mathematics, and computer science. The selection of contributions to SOR'99 accepted by the program committee and the invited pa- pers formed a program which consisted of 265 lectures in 19 sections, including 2 plenary and 19 semi plenary presentations. 119 manuscripts were submitted for publication in the proceedings vo- lume.Due to the page limit for this volume and in order to insure a high quality level of the OR Proceedings a further review procedure had to take place which was strongly supported by the sec- tion chairpersons. It resulted in a selection of 87 manuscripts which are now presented in this volume.
