This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the Third International Conference on High Performance Computing and Applications, HPCA 2015, held in Shanghai, China, in July 2015.The 24 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 50 submissions. The papers cover the following research areas: numerical algorithms and solutions; high performance and grid computing; novel approached to high performance computing; massive data storage and processing; hardware acceleration; applications.

The conference focused on the design and analysis of high performance computing algorithms, tools, and platforms and their s- enti?c, engineering, medical, and industrial applications. It drew about 150 participants from Canada, China, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, S- gapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. More than 170 papers were received on a variety of subjects in modern high performance computing and its applications, such as numerical and software algorithm design and analysis, grid computing advance, adaptive and par- lel algorithm development, distributing debugging tools, computational grid and network environment design, computer simulation and visualization, and computational language study and their applications to science, engineering, and medicine. This book contains ninety papers that are representative in these subjects. It serves as an excellent research reference for graduate s- dents, scientists, and engineers who work with high performance computing for problems arising in science, engineering, and medicine. This conference would not have been possible without the support of a number of organizations and agencies and the assistance of many people.

It was held in Shanghai, a beautiful, active, and modern city in China, August 10–12, 2009. It served as a forum to present current work by researchers and software developers from around the world as well as to highlight activities in the high-performance c- puting area. It aimed to bring together research scientists, application pioneers, and software developers to discuss problems and solutions and to identify new issues in this area. This conference emphasized the development and study of novel approaches for high-performance computing, the design and analysis of high-performance - merical algorithms, and their scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. It offered the conference participants a great opportunity to exchange the latest research results, heighten international collaboration, and discuss future research ideas in HPCA. In addition to 24 invited presentations, the conference received over 300 contr- uted submissions from over ten countries and regions worldwide, about 70 of which were accepted for presentation at HPCA 2009. The conference proceedings contain some of the invited presentations and contributed submissions, and cover such research areas of interest as numerical algorithms and solutions, high-performance and grid c- puting, novel approaches to high-performance computing, massive data storage and processing, hardware acceleration, and their wide applications.

ICWL is an annual international conference series on Web-based learning that has so far been held in Asia, Europe and Australia. This series represents the cooperationofEuropeanandAsianresearcherstoadvancethe?eldofWeb-based learning. The 9th ICWL 2010 was held in Shanghai, China. ICWL 2010 was jointlyorganizedbytheHongKongWebSociety,ShanghaiUniversity.Shanghai, knownthroughouttheworldasthe"ParisoftheOrient,"isathrivingmetropolis delightfully mixing the West and East, old and new, ancient and modern. It was particularly special to hold ICWL 2010 in Shanghai, as Expo 2010 was held in the same city just before the conference period. This year, we received about 192 submissions. There were a total of 36 full papers and 8 short papers, representing an acceptance rate of about 23%; these papers are included in this LNCS proceedings volume. The authors of these s- missions came from 35 countries and regions, while the authors of the accepted paperscamefrom18countriesandregions.Wewouldliketo thank thereviewers for spending their precious time reviewing the papers and for providing valuable comments that aided signi?cantly in the paper selection process.We would like to especially thank our Organization Chair, Feiyue Ye, for spending an enormous amount of time and e?ort in coordinating the local - rangements.
