Doch wie hat die Disziplin der Politischen Theorie auf solch eine "Revitalisierung" (Jürgen Habermas) der Religion reagiert und mit welchen politiktheoretischen Konsequenzen?Auch wenn politiktheoretische Antworten auf die Religionsfrage konzeptionell unterschiedlich ausfallen, haben diese Auseinandersetzungen auf der Basis eines rein europäischen Erfahrungsraums stattgefunden. Konsequenterweise ist der Blick jenseits des Eurozentrismus ausgeblieben.
