Information is an asset to all individuals and businesses. The value of an organization lies within its information - its security is critical for business operations, as well as retaining credibility and earning the trust of clients. Information security refers to the processes and methodologies which are designed and implemented to protect print, electronic, or any other form of confidential, private and sensitive information or data from unauthorized access, use, misuse, disclosure, destruction, modification, or disruption. Information security responsibilities include establishing a set of business processes that will protect information assets regardless of how the information is formatted or whether it is in transit, is being processed or is at rest in storage. Information security has become very important in most organizations. The main reason for this is that access to information and the associated resources has become easier because of the developments in distributed processing, for example the Internet and electronic commerce. The result is that organizations need to ensure that their information is properly protected and that they maintain a high level of information security. In many cases, organizations demand some proof of adequate information security from business partners before electronic commerce can commence. Organizations employ a dedicated security group to implement and maintain the organization’s information security program. The security group is generally responsible for conducting risk management, a process through which vulnerabilities and threats to information assets are continuously assessed, and the appropriate protective controls are decided on and applied. When information is not adequately protected, it may be compromised and this is known as an information or security breach. The consequences of an information breach are severe. For businesses, a breach usually entails huge financial penalties, expensive law suits, loss of reputation and business. For individuals, a breach can lead to identity theft and damage to financial history or credit rating. Recovering from information breaches can take years and the costs are huge. Threats to sensitive and private information come in many different forms, such as malware and phishing attacks, identity theft and ransomware. To prevent attackers and mitigate vulnerabilities at various points, multiple security controls are implemented and coordinated as part of a layered defense in depth strategy. This should minimize the impact of an attack. To be prepared for a security breach, security groups should have an incident response plan (IRP) in place. This should allow them to contain and limit the damage, remove the cause and apply updated defense controls.

Horticulture is defined as the branch of agriculture that deals with the art, science, technology, and business of growing plants. Horticulture involves in production of medicinal plants, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, sprouts, mushrooms, algae, flowers, seaweeds and non-food crops such as grass and ornamental trees and plants. Plant conservation, landscape restoration, garden design, construction, and maintenance, and arboriculture are part of horticulture. Horticulture is important because of its benefits like high export value, high per unit area yield, high returns per unit area, best utilization of waste land, provision of raw material for industries and protection of environment. It also improves economic conditions of many farmers and has become means of improving livelihood of many under-privileged classes by generating employment. Recent advances in technologies such as biotechnology, genomics, various methods and techniques in cultivation, has accelerated cultivar development greatly in all plants. This book gives insight on latest technologies and their applications in the field of horticulture.

Urban Tree Management is the careful care and organizing tree populations in urban settings for the purpose of improving the urban environment. Urban tree management advocates the role of trees as a critical part of the urban infrastructure. Urban foresters plant and maintain trees, support appropriate tree and forest preservation, conduct research and promote the many benefits trees provide. Urban tree management is practiced by municipal and commercial arborists, municipal and utility foresters, environmental policymakers, city planners, consultants, educators, researchers and community activists. It contains tree selection, planting, care and protection and the overall management of trees as a collective resource. Urban Tree Management designates their benefits and describes their effects on quality of urban life and well-being facets that are increasingly important in these times of progressing urbanization. First chapter presents a simulation model to predict the future availability of native hollow-bearing trees in a rapidly expanding urban landscape. Second chapter explores on the role of trees in improving the urban landscape. The purpose of third chapter is to describe how diverse stakeholders can use urban tree canopy (UTC) Assessment and Prioritization tools to collaboratively achieve urban sustainability goals. Fourth chapter will look at the key research studies and how they have been used to justify and focus urban forestry programming. Fifth chapter presents an approach on urban forest inventory and we present in sixth chapter the Planted Tree Re-Inventory Protocol for citizen science-based monitoring of recently-planted urban trees. Seventh chapter explores on a technical guide to urban and community forestry. The purpose of the eighth chapter is to assess what it means to meet the four CARS measures and the purpose of ninth chapter is to further the thinking around urban-forest sustainability and to reveal alternative interpretations of the concept. In tenth chapter, we examine potential inequities associated with the distribution of urban tree cover in relationship to race/ethnicity and income. In eleventh chapter, we assessed the effect of land cover conversion from forest to a variety of urban land covers on vegetation dynamics. In twelfth chapter, we present an approach to assessing ecosystem service supply and demand in a spatially-explicit manner focusing on carbon storage and sequestration provided by urban trees. Thirteenth chapter highlights on urban tree effects on soil organic carbon and last chapter aims to evaluate the contribution of street trees to canopy.

Criminology (from Latin cr?men, “accusation”; and Greek -?????, -logia) is the scientific study of the nature, extent, management, causes, control, consequences, and prevention of criminal behavior, both on the individual and social levels. The term was first used in 1885 by Italian law professor Raffaele Garofalo as criminologia. In this book we will cover the bases regarding victims, crime and police in hope that this will awake the desire for further reading and studying of this legal discipline. We will start from the historical development of Criminology and Cesare Lombroso in Chapter 2 as the most colorful person in history of this discipline because he connected anthropology and crime. Although his theories are outdated his work is a must-know for every Criminologist. This is the reason he is chosen from many to be mentioned in the beginning of this book. Chapter 3 offers theoretical foundations for adopting Problem Based Learning in the study of crime and criminal justice. While problem-based learning (PBL) has been successfully used in many disciplines for over 30 years, it has not yet been widely adopted by criminal justice instructors. Chapter 4 brings partial test of Agnew’s general theory of crime and delinquency. Relying on a sample of adolescents and employing measures of the self, family, school, and peers domains, this study examines the contemporaneous and lagged effects of these four life domains on the likelihood of consuming alcohol and using marijuana. Given the increased criminalization of young people in poor communities, and the possibilities for change at this very moment, progressive criminological ideas have never been more important. Paper in the Chapter 5 discusses possible partnerships between progressive criminology and social justice organizations struggling to transform the criminal justice systems. Often people are focusing only on urban areas, research on rural communities and crime in Chapter 6 is examined as a way to criticize and challenge mainstream criminological theories and concepts like social disorganization and collective efficacy, and to remind critical criminologists of the importance for developing critical perspectives for place-based or ecological theories of crime. Some awarded experts are claiming that administrative criminology deserves much more positive appraisal than it has been given to date. You can read more about their standings in the Chapter 7 while Chapter 8 is dealing with white collar crime and sentencing in these cases. This study is saying: “It is important to strive for a sentencing system that is classless, but in doing so it is also important to respect real differences”.Chapter 9 research the fact that exposure to crime and the density of alcohol outlets in one’s neighborhood will be positively associated with the incidence of hospitalization for and mortality from traumatic injuries, independent of other neighborhood characteristics. Victims and victimization are in the center of criminology interests. You need to know the categorization of victims of crime to then enter deeper into this world and learn the specifics of every category and group so you would eventually start finding ways of stopping further victimization of the given group. Chapter 10 gives you just outline of divisions among different victims. For many people, the primary interaction they have with the criminal justice system is with law enforcement. Open Data series in the Chapter 11 has been exploring the benefits and challenges of working with individual-level data in the criminal justice context. Criminology cannot be developed only academically but it need strong and well educated practitioners also. More on “predictive policing” you can read in this Chapter. Chapter 12 will bring qualitative methods in criminological research (labeling approach and critical criminology) closer to you. Qualitative methodology has to a large extent been developed in sociological research. Stable supplies of affordable energy could adversely affect quality of life and interrupt patterns of social cohesiveness. Chapter 13 investigates a hypothesized link between patterns of energy consumption and instrumental violence across 868 U.S. counties while next Chapter traces aspects of the development of a ‘green’ criminology and its perspectives. Criminology can not afford to exclude law enforcement from its studies. That is why Chapters 15, 16 and 17 are dedicated to this aspect of fighting against crime. Chapter 18 introduces the construction and methodological benefits of a series of new data sets that amalgamate approximately 30 years of public data on crime, victimization, fear of crime, social and political attitudes with national socio-economic indicators in England and Wales. Little research to date has accounted for the full spectrum of victimization to which adolescents can be exposed while Chapter 19 defines Child victimization. Final Chapter takes its starting point in the seminal work of Jock Young, The Criminological Imagination, published in 2011. He laid down a challenge for the future of the discipline in this book. These Chapter exposes different issues that have a vital presence in which the connections between them are unspoken. Given that the editor himself is a supporter of Green criminology as the future of all criminological work, I hope that this text will encourage someone to work further on establishing the foundations of this new direction of thoughts, providing us all with better results in practice.

This century has been called the information age and information is regarded as a symbol of progress, the dynamic development of a society. It has become a major component of a growing number of products; it is gradually turning into an independent product and more confidently crowding out other products and services, gaining a leading position on them. Every year, many people in the information field engage in the collection, processing, transfer and storage of information, and the production of hardware and software required for the smooth operation of information systems. Politicians, economists and sociologists confidently use the phrase “information rich” and “information poor.” These terms are used characterize not only individuals and social groups, but also entire countries. The well-being of citizens and peoples, along with the presence of wealth in recent years has been increasingly determined access to information resources. The explosive growth of information flow and related technologies has led to a global change in the communication system. Its appearance, along with the traditional series of new social institutions, has involved meeting the specific information needs of society; however, this includes the more rapidly growing amount of information and with it the social costs of its handling and transportation. More relevant is the question of determining the nature of institutions, ensuring its functioning in society. The library is one of the oldest public institutions, aimed at meeting the information needs of society. At different stages of history, the understanding of the library’s social status has changed its role and importance in public life. However, the main influence on the development of libraries provided the information needs of users, structure document-flow of any age, political, socio-cultural, economic and technological features of the development of society. The present stage of human history is characterized by globalization, information and democratization of all spheres of public life. The new type of society has ensured the rapid development of electronic technology, along with the collection, processing, storage and use of various types of information, and access of representatives of different social groups to national and global information resources. That is, these resources define the intellectual, economic, political and even military power of the state. These factors contribute to the resumption of the debate on the place and role of libraries in modern society and the prospects for their development. The progress of computer technology and information technology has led to the emergence of theories predicting their functions and restrictions, turning them into institutions designed to meet the needs of only the disadvantaged sections of society. Even their gradual extinctions and increasingly discussed question concerning the role of libraries in providing information freedom and security of citizens, thus revealing the essence of the library as a modern social institution. The definition of the principles of its activities and functions of the interaction between the external and internal environment, problems and prospects of development are important and relevant today. The emergence and development of libraries has always been associated with the need to transfer accumulated information from individual to individual, from generation to generation. For thousands of years, the library was needed for the development of science, education, culture, industry and agriculture. Thanks to libraries, we have kept many priceless treasures of human thought throughout the history of civilization. Accumulating the wisdom of the ages, libraries contribute to the preservation, development, and growth of knowledge. Despite the fact of the library as a phenomenon, throughout several thousands of years of study of its essence, specialists have paid insufficient attention. This is largely because library scientists have worked to identify the potential of libraries to solve current problems, and the consideration of their internal, necessary and stable properties and relations, causes, identity and characteristics of development have been sidelined. To really understand the essence of the library, as well as other social phenomena, not only on the surface, it is necessary to move from the empirical level of knowledge to the theoretical.
