When Martin Parr's The Last Resort was first published and exhibited in 1986, it divided critics and audiences alike. Some saw it as the finest achievement to date of colour photography in Britain whilst others viewed it as an aberration. In hindsight, there is little doubt that it transformed documentary photography in Britain and placed Parr amongst the world's leading photographers. A highly collectable edition of a book that is now considered a classic.

This is a new and extensively revised edition of Martin Parr’s classic photobook Small World.First published in 1996 Small World is one of the most popular and most important of Martin Parr’s books. It has been in print continuously since its first publication. This revised and extended edition includes more than 80 photographs and features many of Martin Parr’s most iconic images. It is a biting, very funny satire in which Parr looks at tourism worldwide, exposing the increasingly homogenous ‘global culture’ where in the search for different cultures those same cultures are destroyed. In a world of ‘carbon footprints’, global warming and climate crisis, the issues that Parr raised almost thirty years ago when the book was first published are even more relevant today.Whilst Parr’s larger‐than‐life troupe of tourists appear willing participants in an omnipresent consumer culture they are also bemused victims – at the mercy of larger social forces and locked into their insatiable craving for spectacle. Small World‘s citizens become a symbol of Western society’s prosperous freedoms, declaring their power and their rights to travel, to choose and to consume.

It is a shocking tale of cruelty, crime and human greed.

the 1992 classic, finally back in print with new material.

Photographed in London, Near Dark ventures into a mysterious territory, reflecting a less harmonious city mood, a fever dream of anxiety and unpredictability. London is just as alluring as ever but now everyone is taking shelter, keeping out of sight.Photographed in the hours just before sunrise or just after sundown. Very detailed and shot in super high resolution composite format, the photos explore decaying modernism, post industrial landscapes, council estates in a fugue state of sleep and serenity, monumental London landmarks wreathed in a painterly haze. The images have been made over the last ten years during which London has experienced Olympic euphoria through to pandemic and chaotic government policies. The emphasis is on mood and an attitude amassed over 40 years of picturing London.

Christer Stromholm is recognised as one of the major figures of 20th century European photography. Stromholm captured his surroundings in black and white images that display his integrity, understated humour and a highly personal aesthetic. With an unmistakable sensitivity to human suffering, based on his personal experience, he took photography in a new direction. Sean O'Hagan, writing in The Guardian, has described him 'as the father of Swedish photography both for his abiding influence and for his role as a teacher.' Born in Stockholm, Stromholm discovered photography via graphic art in the late 1940s. During the 1950s and 60s he lived much of the time in Paris, where he developed his particular style of street photography. It was here that he produced his most famous work, Les Amies de Place Blanche, a tribute to a group of young transsexuals with whom he became friends and whose lives he shared over many months. They were very much outsiders, struggling to survive, with their main source of income being from prostitution. In these legendary photographs, shot at night in available light, Stromholm merged street photography and portraiture, depicting them as the close friends they were, in intimate and honest portraits far from the spectacular or speculative. Les Amies de Place Blanche raises profound issues about sexuality and gender; and, in Stromholm's own words, 'it is about obtaining the freedom to choose one's own life and identity.' As well as his time in Paris, Stromholm went on numerous photographic expeditions around the globe in the early 1960s, including Spain, Japan, India and the USA. Early in his career, he began teaching in Stockholm, eventually setting up the legendary Fotoskolan, from which some 1,200 students graduated between 1962 and 1974. Stromholm's work has inspired many generations of photographers, though he did not become known to the broader public until 1986, with a major exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stockholm. Stromholm died in 2002.
