This compilation of essays contains the final handwritten teachings of Lee Lozowick (1943-2010) given during the last 18 months of his life. During that time Lee lived in the crucible of a terminal illness that limited his ability to speak, even while he continued to work & teach extensively, traveling in Europe & the U.S. up until the last 2 days of his life.  Lee called these intimate epistles "Words of Fire and Faith.” Here the reader enters the teacher's world & encounters a living flame that is simultaneously full of tenderness & compassion for the human predicament. As Lee walked the razor's edge of his last months with dignity, grace & an unflagging commitment to the Path, so are his words imbued with an inner fire that burns away the identification & entrenched attachments of our self-preoccupation.  These essays are a testimony of the author's own radical faith rooted in surrender to the Supreme Reality, fully incarnated in a lifetime of devotion to his spiritual master, Yogi Ramsuratkumar. In a natural outpouring, this book contains pith teachings as well as Lee's sense of humour, tenderness, generosity & compassion, which characterized his work since its inception in 1975.  As he wrote, Lee was engaged in extreme discipline, which honed his body and being into a state of illuminated clarity; his relentless communication was direct, made from heart to heart. This spiritual intimacy levies fierce challenges even as he simultaneously asserts, "I have faith in you.”  Following any thread, one may be touched by the vibrant light of a gifted teacher who faced life & death with fire & faith, without backing down or compromise. His writings speak to universal themes: self-honesty, cultivating attention; sanctuary; working with vanity, pride, lust; enlightened culture; recognizing reality as it is, faith, grace, divine ravishment & relationship with the Beloved.  This book will inspire and enliven students of all spiritual paths, particularly those who are confronting their own mortality and seek to practice with a profound degree of refinement, as Lee Lozowick did, up to the moment & transition of bodily death. Lee's constant directive to live fully in the fire of transformation rings true on every page; he tells us, without equivocation, that without a firm foundation, we cannot ride the waves of inexorable circumstance and the inevitable fact of death-the final moment in which we may actualize our full humanity in this lifetime.

The statistics are shocking! Obesity has become an epidemic in the United States. Not only are American adults suffering the consequences of significant overweight, but massive numbers of our children are quickly joining the ranks of the overfed and undernourished! According to the latest National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), an estimated 16 percent of children and adolescents ages 6-19 years are seriously overweight, and this percentage is growing rapidly in younger children as well. This figure represents a 45 percent increase from the overweight estimates obtained from the same survey done for 1988-94. The National Institute for Health has made obesity-intervention one of its primary targets for increasing the health and longevity of all Americans by 2010. Without a turn-around, however, succeeding generations of children will suffer increased heart disease and diabetes and will, overall, be less healthy than their parents.

This hard-hitting and innovative book about man-woman relationship immediately challenges the deceptions about love and intimacy rampant in today's patriarchal culture. At the same time, "Radiant Joy Brilliant Love" reveals a step-by-step process for discovering and living out alternative possibilities. The author claims that even the "best" of our relationships are still generally basic level; what he calls "Ordinary Human Relationship". He asserts that two more domains remain to be explored: namely, Extraordinary Human Relationship and Archetypal Love. The book shows exactly how to enter these new domains, and how to stay there long enough to cultivate genuine intimacy, nurturance, excitement and satisfaction together.

For 100 days, at the request of one of his students, an American born lama in the Nyingma lineage of Vajrayana Buddhism kept a journal of short reflections. Some days, the heart-breaking poetry of devotion, or essays in celebration of dawn, light, trees; on others, razor-like distinctions about the nature of the mind, challenges to conventional views of seeing, or seething commentary on the shallowness of contemporary culture. Taken together, but in small considered bites, the entries will provide a rare meal to any sincere practitioner who recognizes direct and authentic spiritual discourse. The heart of this book's message is that a mind that wishes spiritual freedom (which is both the starting point and the end of the spiritual path) must question everything. And further, that this questioning can only be done with great sensitivity from a vantage point that sees its past conditionings and aims to be free from them. This book is a demonstration and celebration in poetry, prose and song of that freedom. Traktung Yeshe Dorje has been guiding both individuals and community for the last 23 years, drawing his students and friends into the world of spiritual awakening by offering them a window into a different way of considering appearances. The unique offering of this book is the deeply personal manner in which insights are presented–using a journal format rather than direct instructions about spiritual topics. An astute reader will glimpse–even "fall into"–the way of perceiving of a tantric spiritual adept. We experience, if only for a moment, how things appear to one whose mind is free from conditioning. Eye to Form challenges the reader to consider familiar topics & scenarios from a new, perhaps radical, perspective. The invitation here is to profound consideration of life's deeper meanings through the unique intersection of beauty, wisdom & silence. This is not a "practical guide"–it offers no plans for or steps to enlightenment or happiness. In fact, the author has no compunction in undermining such fast-food approaches to the recognition of Buddhahood. Eye to Form, therefore, can be extremely beneficial to those who not looking to be told what to do, but rather are inspired to think deeply, carefully & freshly. Intelligent choices on the spiritual path can be made only as one's considerations reach beyond ordinary-mind's conditioning. The challenge for this type of consideration is perhaps more useful than yet another self-help manual.
