Beskrivning
This major new collection is the perfect resource for small choirs, young choirs, and all choirs whose numbers fluctuate week by week. Each piece is scored flexibly with optional parts or parts for equal voices, so that it can be performed by more than one combination of performers; many pieces can also be sung in unison. The music is accessible - ideal for choirs with limited rehearsal time - and keyboard parts are playable on organ (with or without pedals) or piano. The repertoire spans the sixteenth century to the present day and includes new, flexibly scored arrangements of traditional pieces, as well as newly commissioned anthems. There are also pieces in lighter styles, to cater for a broad range of tastes. With complete coverage of the church year, this is an essential resource for those looking for fresh and accessible options for church services.

Mer om författaren

Alan Bullard was born in London and studied with Herbert Howells at the Royal College of Music, and at Nottingham University. He enjoyed a successful career in music education; for many years he was Head of Composition at Colchester Institute, and is currently an examiner for ABRSM. He now devotes most of his time to composing, editing, and arranging. His music unfailingly appeals to both performers and audiences; he has written for all kinds of choirs, and instrumental works for a variety of ensembles and orchestras. Alan is a respected writer of music for examination syllabuses and educational albums. His major publications include the four inspirational Oxford Flexible Choral Anthologies, Alan Bullard Anthems, and the five cantatas Wondrous Cross, O Come Emmanuel, A Light in the Stable, Psalmi Penitentiales, and Images of Peace. He and his wife Janet also write the Pianoworks series for the older beginner.

Recensioner i media

I do recommend this book very highly to organists and choirmasters of all levels, for OUP's collection has something for everybody and at the price is a real bargain. It can genuinely claim to be "a complete resource for every church choir".
