Cradle Song

for SATB and optional keyboardOriginally published in the New Horizons collection The Ivy and the Holly, this carol has a mysterious, other-worldly character that complements the sixteenth-century text attributed to the Wedderburn brothers. With a restrained tempo, some dark harmonies, and sonorous, overlapping textures, Cradle Song creates an atmosphere of hushed wonder and provides a compelling alternative to more familiar settings of this popular lullaby.
