Michal Biran is The Max and Sophie Mydans Foundation Professor of the Humanities at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Director of its Institute of Asian and African Studies, she has published twelve books and volumes as well as numerous journal articles. She is a member of the Israel Academy of Arts and Sciences. Hodong Kim is a professor emeritus of the Seoul National University. He received his PhD degree from Harvard University and his thesis was published as Holy War in China (2004). A member of the Academy of Science, Korea, he is the author of books and articles on the history of Xinjiang as well as the Mongol Empire, published in both English and in Korean.
