Ce volume présente les contributions des cinquièmes Rencontres Internationales organisées à Lausanne par la Fondation harmoniques en septembre 2010. Il offre un regard panoramique et des études à plusieurs voix sur la variété des écoles de facture de piano et des styles pianistiques à l’époque de Chopin. C’est la conjonction de l’observation scientifique, de la connaissance des sources historiques et de la pratique artisanale qui constitue l’intérêt principal de ces communications.This volume comprises the proceedings of the fifth International Congress which was organised by the harmoniques foundation and held in Lausanne during September 2010. Ein reiches Programm mit Konzerten und Gottesdiensten, Referaten und Diskussionen prägte den 5. Internationalen Kirchenmusikkongress, der Ende Oktober 2015 in Bern stattfand. Dabei wurde das Verhältnis von Religion, Kirche und Liturgie zur Musik aus musikwissenschaftlicher, historischer und theologischer Sicht betrachtet. Der Kongressband enthält die Hauptreferate, aber auch Beiträge zu einigen der Workshops, die zwischen Reflexion und Praxis vermittelten – von Perspektiven des zukünftigen Orgelbaus bis zu Möglichkeiten des Zusammenwirkens von Musik und Liturgie.Aufgenommen wurde auch eine Auswahl von Einblicken in die Arbeitsgebiete von Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden, die diese im Rahmen eines Forschungskolloquiums präsentiert hatten; zudem wird der Schlussgottesdienst des Kongresses im Berner Münster dokumentiert – mit der Predigt, Beiträgen zur Zusammenarbeit und zum Entstehungsprozess der Neukomposition von Lukas Langlotz und Gedanken von Teilnehmenden. Ergänzt wird der Band durch eine Übersicht über alle Veranstaltungen und einen Bericht zu den vorhergehenden Kongressen.

Creating diagrams is an art—a techne—shared across the several of the seven liberal arts. This richly illustrated volume explores how music has been conceived, taught, and imagined through diagrams from antiquity to the modern era. Musical diagrams can condense theory or guide practice; they may be schematic or pictorial, static or moving, intuitive or paradoxical. Their designs invite non-linear interpretation and mirror changing modes of musical thought. This edited book aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue on the intersections between the coining of the «Western Music» concept and the institutionalised and entrepreneurial management of culture. It studies the emergence of the trademark «Western Music» in relation to the commodification of leisure, the institutionalisation of academic discourses, and the transnational imperial politics of culture. This collective work devotes particular attention to the ways events, such as the virtuosi concert tours, song contests, diplomatic acts, or mass broadcastings have created possibilities for homogenisation and globalisation of a corpus of musical practices, repertoires, and ways of thinking, ambiguously labelled, as «Western» along the long 20th Century.
