In 2014, The National Board began revising and streamlining the National Board Certification process. This new 3.0 version of the WHAT WORKS! Series, Strategies for Pursuing National Board Certification: Version 3.0, Components 1 and 2 reflects the revisions published to date. This updated publication gives the most current information available. Contents include dozens of strategies to propel candidates to successful certification. The material creates a road map showing how to provide evidence of the National Board Standards. WHAT WORKS! Successful Strategies for Pursuing National Board Certification Version 3.0, Components 3 and 4 includes dozens of strategies to guide candidates to successful certification. The chapters draw a roadmap showing how to provide evidence of the National Board Standards. There are tips for understanding the prompts, making videos, and for writing clearly, consistently, and convincingly in the “National Board Style”.

This book explains, summarizes, and interprets the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards’ new Maintenance of Certificate (MOC) process. The MOC process replaces the former renewal process for National Board-Certified Teachers who want to maintain their certification beyond its original expiration date. MOC explores the teacher’s professional growth since the time of original certification or one’s last renewal. The book covers the scope of the process from beginning to end. Candidates will learn about the two Components they’ll complete, developing their Professional Growth Experiences (PGE), connecting their video to a PGE, writing in the National Board style, and how to most efficiently use their instructions. Successful Writing Strategies for National Board Certification leads National Board candidates through various strategies to help them write in the “National Board Style”. How a candidate writes about their teaching practice greatly impacts the success of their efforts to become a Board-Certified Teacher. Components the candidates submit depend on writing that is clear, consistent, and convincing. All the Scoring Rubrics are built upon those elements. This book gives many writing strategies, tips, and examples to lead candidates toward the goal of submitting work that meets the National Board Standards for accomplishment. This revision brings it up-to-date with the current, Version 3.0 National Board requirements.
